As the last survivors were able to get out of the building, Kwan did a final sweep of the basement area to confirm that no one else was trapped in the rubble. After confirming that no one was around, Kwan turned to leave only to hear a loud rumble. The structural integrity of the building had finally given out as the entire structure began to collapse. Acting almost on instinct, Kwan reached up and grabbed a large chuck of rubble about to fall on her head. While she held the multi-ton debris with little effort, the building continued to collapse around her. In seconds, she was completely buried by metal and concrete in the basement.
