Someone save me from the hate
Though we would all like to think differently, Sonic isn't perfect. He has super speed, courage, and many other aspects that we all admire, but he has flaws.
I actually loved it when Dark Super Sonic showed up; he's proof that while Sonic is a hero, sometimes he needs a hero just as much as anyone else.
Just as he is capable of great compassion, Sonic is also capable of great hatred or rage. This side of him reveals just that.

I just love the deeper meaning behind Dark Sonic. Even a hero needs saving. No one is perfect, and everyone has some level of darkness inside them.

In the episode "Teasing Time" in Sonic X, after witnessing Chris's injuries and Cosmo's fright, Sonic is blinded by rage and absorbs the negative energies from a nearby pile of fake Chaos Emeralds, becoming Dark Sonic. In this form Sonic becomes more angry and brutal than seen in the series before. He displays the same powers as Super Sonic, but in a more extreme, violent and intense way, such as when he brutally ripped apart the two prototype Metarex soldiers."
