In soft shades of slate and lavender-gray, this heron-inspired necklace is complimented by flashy Labradorite beads.

I just moved to Colorado and I found a really cool, huge bead store in town. They had a very nice selection of Labradorite beads and of course I had to go home with some, especially with how flashy they were. Once I had them, I really wanted to create a cool, elaborate wing necklace based on the beads (sound familiar...? That's what happened with my Labradorite Gryphon Wings mask and a neat Labradorite cabochon I found). I'm also trying to do more beadwork with my necklaces, not only because it looks cool, but also because the leather is so light, that additional beads help weigh it down as a necklace so it doesn't shift as much.

I really love subtle shades of gray, particularly with some color highlights. This necklace was loosely based on a great-blue heron, and I definitely drew a lot of inspiration from the subtle shades of its plumage.
