Description Remember this old piece from 10 years ago?

I was going through my gallery to find some examples of my older work and stumbled across this drawing.  Foahyn was an RP character I used with friends a while ago.  She was meant to be a sweet, choir angel with wind powers. I never really liked the original drawing I did of her - particularly that stiff pose, weird face and giant man hands :B  I guess in the back of my head I was still annoyed that I never really came up with a proper drawing of her, so I used it as an excuse to mess around with graphite again.

I've had no motivation to do anything today, so at least I feel a little accomplished having drawn something.

The name "Foahyn" is loosely based on "Foehn", which is a type of heated wind that flows down the side of mountains, thus the title.

Very nice!
Best part is, she doesn't look like she's posing in front of wings in this one!

Smashing job on the new, and improved art of your lovely Angel maiden.  It's been a while since I've drawn any of my Angel OCs.   Beautiful job on the graceful pose, joy, and the power of those wings.

Well done. Most winged angels bug me because avian wings just don't work the way they're usually drawn on angels.

Wings on people are hard, mostly in order for them to be even remotely anatomical, the person would have to have a gigantic breast bone/pectorals. But biology aside, there are still ways to attach them so they don't look *too* weird.

It really boils down to paying attention to anatomy. The artists who do pay attention, and who do their homework in regards wing structure and shoulder structures, as you did, aren't the problem; neither are those chubby Italianate cherubs and putti. It is the folk who haven't a clue how wings are formed; and stick them any old way onto humanoid figures. My apologies, Brenda, I really didn't mean to rant all over your comments.

Thank you! I think my best human anatomy comes when I'm not trying hard :/ which is a little frustrating.

Not bad...although the wings look a little wonky.

windfalcon In reply to LightArcIndumati [2015-01-25 04:27:12 +0000 UTC]

I'm curious how they look wonky? Naturally wings attached to a humanoid will look weird, but anatomically they're accurate for a bird.

They look pretty anatomically correct to me. And its a downward flap, it seems.

Typically in angel art, wings are usually shown held high, which is what I suspect they meant when they said it looked wonky. Though drawing them in an uncommon position doesn't make them 'wrong'

Heh didn't know that about angels, cool! No complains from me! You're awesome.

windfalcon In reply to sugarpoultry [2015-01-25 04:37:01 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! The comment just makes me giggle because if you look through my gallery, I have way "wonkier" wings than these these are actually pretty simple compared to some of the wing angles I draw.

Heh I always check their gallery when they make comments like that. Not a single drawing in their gallery. :\
