Description
Standing in front of the entrance of an old school building. Cassy looks at the rusty old gate, which had collapsed due to the lack of maintenance and the harsh elements it had been exposed to over the ages. She sighs, this place brings back many memories, both pleasant and unpleasant, which she does not want to recall.
If not for a letter she received two days ago, she wouldn't even approach this long abandoned building. It had a reputation of being haunted, but she knew those so called ghosts are harmless spirits, they are just unwilling to be forgotten as the time passes, but now, they are silent, even those restless spirits sense the ominous presence within. She steps through the opening of the creaking old gate, into the abandoned school grounds. Not far away from her are the stairs that lead to the main school building, it was made of smooth gray granite, once swept by the janitor regularly, now it is nothing but stairs that are cracked and worn, as if what that once gave it life disappeared. She walks up the stairs and enters the school. She wishes that it wasn't so cold today.

It was a hot Monday afternoon, the cicadas are shrieking like mad and the students walking to school with their heads bowed to the overwhelming heat. A boy runs forward with a sense of urgency, he wasn't paying attention of what was ahead of him, too rushed to notice anything else. A girl walked up the stairs with her head bowed, she was just like any ordinary girl, with black hair and a pair of glasses. Like everyone else, she couldn't really see ahead of her, the mid-noon's sun too glaring for her sensitive eyes. Two people that couldn't see ahead of them, they bumped into each other of all things that could happen that afternoon.
"Ouch!" He groaned, rubbing his chin.
"Oh! I'm so sorry!" She quickly apologized, forgetting the pain in her head.
"No, it's fine. Are you alright?" The boy smiled, still rubbing his sore chin. Cassy notices a tattoo of a feather on the right side of his neck.
"Yea…Yeah, I'm fine." Embarrassed, she quickly lowered her head. "Look, I gotta go. I'm really sorry!"
She hurried away; confused as to why her face feels so hot, perhaps she's not used to such situations. Great, now I blush when guys talk to me, will I get any lamer? She mused on the thought. They barely knew each other, just as "That person that bumped into me just now" but it was a start. As both of them return to their perspective classrooms, they suddenly know each other a whole lot better, as they stared into each other's faces with wide eyes from across the room.
They happened to study the same subject at the same classroom.

Cassy walks past her old classroom and around the deserted corridors, it feels like walking through an endless maze, where you can't see the end of your path. Occasionally a shadow flashed past, but upon close inspection it is nothing but a stray cat. Her breath comes out as steams as she tries to keep herself warmer by hugging herself with her white fur coat. The wooden floor make a creaking sound as she takes each step, crushing the brittle snow that managed to make their way into the building. She had spent most of her teenage years in this place, as well as the rest of her life, dreaming of the past that turned into nightmares. She looks around, and even though there is no one, she can't shake off the feeling that someone is watching.
She arrives at the school hall, where the students gathered for important announcements in the past. It is empty now; the roof burned off a long time ago, leaving blackened wood and logs in its place, a few rats scurries past and rubbish littering over the floor. It looks like a place a junkie would go and have his shots.
Cassy walks to the middle of the hall and waits, the paper crumpled up in her hands. She looks up at the hole in the roof that illuminates the night's sky, wondering if there will be a shooting star. Like that day during Halloween's eve…

He was late again, as usual, that's why he's rushing off most of the time. One must wonder how he manages to become the captain of the school's basketball team, but according to his teammates, he had never been late for a match yet. Cassy entertained herself by counting the stars in the sky; occasionally there a shooting star and she made a wish too.
A bush rustled behind her.
There was a moment of silence and Cassy sighed.
"Victor, I know you're there."
"Aww geez, I thought I'd give you a surprise …" Victor sighed as he emerged from the bush in his pirate suit, covered from head to toe with twigs and leaves. He grinned as he walks to up to her and sat beside her. He looks just like that day she met him, the same dirty blond hair, the same deep blue eyes that twinkles like a star, the same boyish grin, and that same tattoo of a feather marked from the right side of his neck.
"You're late…" She mumbled. She hated it when he was late.
"Ah well, like I said, I thought I'll give you a surprise, here you go. " He casually dropped a box into her lap.
"What's this?"
"Open it and you'll know." There he goes again, that boyish smile, and his eyes that seemed to twinkle with amusement. Cassy wondered what's he up to, she look at the box, it's a plain velvet box with a blue ribbon, she shrugged and opened it, her eyes widening slightly
"Do you like it? Found it on the beach the other day, I know you don't like flashy stuff, so…eh?"
"Yeah, I like it, I really do, thanks Victor…" She hugs him tightly, the necklace made from a glittering shell between her fingers, sparkling like the stars in the sky.
I finally got the things that I always wanted for; I just wish this moment could last forever…

She waits under the moonlight, she had been standing there for more than 2 hours, it is already midnight, but there is not a soul around. Who is she waiting for?
The wind starts to howl in the chilly night, the door creaks as the wind blows; Cassy looks at the door briefly, as if expecting someone to appear behind it. She sighs, and wonders how Victor is doing. She smiles slightly, knowing full well that he and the children will be fine, even if…
"Are you waiting for me?"
Cassy jumps and quickly turns around, a handsome man about the age of twenty sits on a bench behind her, wearing a white suit and a top hat, he wears an eyepiece and holds a cane, he looks like a traditional gentleman from the 19'the century
"You have the contract?" His maroon eyes staring intently at the paper within her grasp.
"Yes I do."
"Strange, I thought you wouldn't come. You know, most of them just love to go to church thinking that they could earn their redemption there."
Cassy takes to deep breath, this day had to come, she had known it for a long time, for years she tried to forget, wishing that it never happened, but what's been done is done, there's no turning back now.
"I've come to…. Fulfill my part of the contract."
"Very good, that means… you are willing to go with me, even to the deepest parts of hell?"
"Do I look like I have any choice?"
The man tips his hat, his face a mask of mock concentration, and then he smiles. "No, I believe not."

That day, she was waiting for him to pick her up from the restaurant where she worked as a waitress; as usual he was late, but at this hour, when all those who work go home, the traffic is always busy. She sighs. Just like any other day.
When the hospital rang she was still waiting, she didn't believe what they were saying, how could this have happened? Why Victor? Why him?
She tried to act strong all the way to the hospital, not saying a single word until she entered the ward. Seeing his torn and injured frame on the hospital bed was too much, tears flowing freely as she tried to deny what had happened. He might never be able to wake up again. She wished and wished, for a miracle to happen, but his life signs were weak and the doctors said he might never make it.
It was then that she remembered a ritual her old mad grandfather had told her a long time ago, before her father forbid her to approach him again, a summoning ritual. He told her he did it a long time ago, and how the thing was coming for him, she remembered his bloodshot eyes, and how he constantly looked out of the window in fear and how he woke up screaming in the night.
The most important thing that she remembered was that the demon granted any wish, no matter how difficult it was, the wish would come true, but with a price. She didn't care, as long as there was hope, she'd cling to it.
She ran to the only place she knew that no one will come and interfere. The old school hall behind the school.
A man with a white suit and top hat stands in the middle of the dark school hall, where a pentagram is drawn with blood. His hair a dirty blond, his smile a boyish grin, yet his eyes as red as hell's fire. The man have a tattoo of a feather marked on the right side of his neck.
"So, do you want a wish?"
~ ~ ~
The school hall is empty, save for a few rats and rubbish. The wind has died down now. Everything is peaceful. In the middle of the hall, a necklace made from a shell that sparkles like the stars in the clear night sky.
