Thank you Norman, if you can think of anything funny send it my way Took a major roll, crash, and slide on the bike yesterday. Glad I wear a helmet. Feel like I was in a car wreck. And no one around to help, park was pretty empty beucause there were high winds and rain. Lots of stuff on the road. Bike will have to have some work. But the good news is I rolled away from the dog so nothing hit her, she is fine and going to be going nuts until i can get back out.
Also came down AGAIN with the grandkids cold

I know I will try and have good news next message

Really sorry to hear that you crashed and burned, hope you are fine and no lasting damage to yourself. Told you Jack Daniels and cycling do not go together. Plus a cold on top, oh dear.

Ok to bring a smile to your face.

I was waiting at Peterborough Rail Station and decided to have a cup of coffee and a packet of biscuits(8). The place was crowded so I sat at an table already occupied by another gentleman. Put my cup. biscuits and newspaper down and looked around. The gentleman took the packet of biscuits and opened them and took one out and ate it. Like any full blooded english man I also took one of the biscuits, he then did the same and we ate biscuit for biscuit till the packet was empty. He drained his drink and left the table, without a word. I was feeling quite angry and finished by coffee and picked up my newspaper and there under it was MY pack of biscuits. I sat there feeling, oh dear, what have I done. I looked around for the gentleman and he was nowhere to be seen. Anyway I took the biscuits on the train for my snack, feeling quite guilty.

Have a great day and wear a smile.

Now that was very very funny I did not just smile...I will be laughing all day about that one. I can just see it all happening in my head! I wonder, was he thinking the very same thoughts that you had been. I jumped ahead of the story in my mind and thought, oh no do not be upset maybe he was very hungry and you were an answer to his prayers. Well guess maybe not
The "like any full blooded English man" just tickles me to no end!
I was attacked from behind once and my face turned mostly black and yellow because i hit the pavement, and I have been run over by a wild horse I was helping to tame. But this feels worse then either of those, it may have something to do with age.
I never knew I could be so many pretty colors! But think after a few days I will be fine.
You have done a very good job of cheering me up Norman thank you very much!!

Thank you. It really was like something from a comedy sketch without the canned laughter. I felt so embarressed and guilty at the same time. I wonder how he related the story to his wife or friends. I'm back there on Wednesday, next week, on my way to Scotland for 2 days.

Glad you are on the mend and will be back to normal soon. Once you know what normal is.

yes that is very ture reminds me I need to change the quote onmy page been there long enough, the new one is along those lines.

Oh I almost forgot to ask just what exactly is a package of biscuits???? Here we have packages of cookies or crackers, however biscuits here are a bread we eat mostly for dinner sometimes brekfest with gravy in the south mostly. Just one of those 'across the pond "questions

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Lightfoot11 In reply to WinDrift [2007-11-15 21:13:40 +0000 UTC]

What you call cookies is what we call biscuits.

I have had the many varieties of, so called, biscuits in the USA including the gravy one in Texas.

So may have to translate at times. I am fine with your 'english' and understand the different meaning for the same word.

Good quote, heavy but good.

WinDrift In reply to Lightfoot11 [2007-11-15 21:42:30 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for the translaton. If you had even one serving of biscuits and gravy in Texas then you could be in serious danger of a heart attack

It is a lot of fun for me never having been in England to "hear" the use of differant words

Yes, the quote is not as easy to live up to as it may sound

I know what you mean. I would upset the locals but not eating 5 times a day and for going for walks in the parks to keep fit and trim.

I am looking for a new quote. for this weekend's change.
