Wing-Saber β€” Gave up too easy

Description Those that played Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time should remember the the stealth mission in the Gerudo Fortress. Link has to save four carpenters from the Amazon-like Gerudo warriors. If he gets spotted he simply surrenders and is thrown into a cell. Normally you get out easily using the hookshot item to try again.

So problems:

1.) Why does he surrender without a fight? He has no problem shooting them with arrows (they just knock out the women guards) and he can even knock them out with his sword if he just manages not to be seen.

2.) He actually has to fight a higher ranked guard when he actually finds the carpenters. Why doesn't he surrender when she sees him?

3.) When they catch him, they don't search him and take his items away. He can even be holding the hookshot in plain view and they won't take it.

Now I'm not complaining for the sake of complaining. Just pointing out that something like this picture would be more likely to happen if Link just gave up when a guard catches him.

This is video game logic, mind. It’s more realistic when reading the Ocarina of Time Manga.

Trying to go through that part was a real pain. I was captured about over ten times.

I wondered that the entire time xD

I was more likely to be an idiot and fall off one of the areas and try to escape without getting seen.....which I did,and lost the first battle fight twice in a row,got captured at least 20 times *cough* training ground curiousity *cough* and ran around in circles between the same two rooms

Always found it dumb indeed that he is nt disarmed. Would have been interesting, yet somewhat annoying, to have to struggle from ropes each time you get caught.Β

Or better yet: Links get caught, disarmed and tied up upon arriving. Until he gets his stuff back, each time a guard sees him she reties him up in his cell.

Then again, if they are all as strong as their leader with 2 swords, it would explain his surrender.

Interesting concept...
It would be an enjoyable difference to see Link as the G.I.D for once. And maybe if he's lucky, Zelda will rescue him.

Or not.

(On a perverted note) Seeing him in such a helpless position may prove to be a bit too... tempting for the princess.

Yeah either way he's going to have an interesting day

Well he asked for it sneaking around the fortress like that!

Indeed.

One does not simple walk into Gerudo Valley.
Especially not with out a proper escape plan.

Quite true, quite true.

But whatever the reason for a foolish surrender, it apears to be a little late for anything now.

beautiful I started playing Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask again and found how difficult they can be sometimes.

I'm a little surprised you didn't want one of the Gerudo captains (they wear white, I think) in this one.

Wing-Saber In reply to mpk25 [2011-09-29 03:23:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I wanted one of the lower rank ones to be the captor. Just part of the irony of the hero made helpless but just a normal guard. And the low ranked guard would be more proud of herself and appreciative that she now has a strong swordsman to herself.

they have that in most RPG's where you have you to sneak around and if you get caught you get thrown out or in the dungeon just to make the game hard.

Yeah usually just to spice up gameplay a bit, even if the character can usually fight his way out.

I've been wondering about something for a while now. Link never really talks and only makes the occasional grunt and yell. Is that because he's the strong silent type, or is he a few links short of a chain?
