Description
New sculpt for the week of 1/12/10. One of a kind polymer clay fantasy sculpture by Nicole West.So, I've decided that I'm going to try more unconventional pieces this year. I'll still do what I'm known for, but I'm going to throw more curveballs. Hence this girl.

there's not a flow in the mix between human and creature. It's beautiful... I could say as always, if not for the fact it is always more beautiful than the last time ^^

What this makes me think is that she is encountering a kind human for the first time, and she doesn't quite trust this human yet as her kind had been hunted by humans before, therefore her body is introverted to show her utter lack of trust.

dose she shave her legs? also is that like a platypus tail? I cant tell? it reminds me of a girlfriend I once had. She was 6'3 and leggy. I loved her and I love this piece.

Really interesting to see new takes on your work!
I do have one comment to make, and that is that i think you've approached this one with the more human element in mind, as per your usual pieces...
By this, i mean that you have human anatomy down, you really do, but when you change something about it, it affects other areas...
With this girl, im finding the legs too straight... i studied the painting, and in that, you can see the knees are more bent, and this in turn, adds that lovely arch to her back...
I probably sound like a right b*stard, sitting here, poking at your girl, but i hope you know me well enough to know that im just trying to be constructive! Im no expert per say, but i've seen enough weird and wonderful creatures in my hobby to note certain relationships between hybrids...
You've got all the right details and colours, just a little loose with the anatomy for me...
Still doesnt mean i dont like what you're doing though, i applaud that you're trying new things
