Er... Snow rather.

I want to write a small story to accompany these, this is the skeleton, I'll probably flesh it out later.

Luma is a Stryx caretaker, he specializes in breeding. Recently, Cayde approached him asking him for assistance in breeding one of his stryx, Volstagg, with a pretty tyto. This breeding had many dangerous variables, if either Stryx decided they didn't like the other, Volstagg could have easily killed the much smaller bird. Luckily all went well... At first.
The eggs were laid and due to hatch any day, Fawn, a retired Tyto, was keeping a close eye on the unhatched children. Her old age and tiredness overcame her and she took a nap, normally this would not have been an issue as there are many other Stryx on Overcast ranch that could have sensed and dealt with an intruder. On this day, Luma was taking his flock out for exercise and neither Cayde nor Petra had Stryx in the ranch.
A lone cat snuck onto the ranch, looking for a weak or small snack to steal away. Despite it's size, the sabertooth would have trouble with even the smallest stryx on the ranch if it caught their attention. Luckily it was a quiet day, and it settled for an egg instead of live prey, unable to crack the protective shell, the large feline picked up the egg in it's jaws and stole away.

Upon his return, Luma found Fawn in a very distressed state, one egg was missing and she was not able to go out and search for it at the risk of losing the other two eggs. Immediately Luma took action, his biggest bird was a Corva with little battle experience, out of the question for such a hunt. He set out alone.

During his travels, he tracked the cat's prints to the higher peaks of the mountains his ranch was settled in. This was dangerous territory, even for a Grem, wolves, sabertooth cats, bears, and various other dangers prowled this area. Alas, these would not be his downfall, today, but rather the wrong stone nudged off the side of a higher peak by an unknown force. The stone rolled, breaking the still silence. A steady growl turned into a rumble which turned into a roar as an avalanche poured down the mountainside.
Luma's first thought was of the ranch, was it safe? Yes.
Now, himself.
There was nowhere to run, even if he could have, he would not have been fast enough. His only hope was to find a ledge large enough he could crouch beneath so the snow would hopefully go over and not wash him away. The only suitable ledge was a good ways away, and the howling snow was approaching fast. He made a mad dash, he was not in the best shape and his top speed was not quite what Cayde or Petra might be able to do.
He was too far
The ledge seemed to shrink away as the snow grew in his peripheral vision.
He braced himself for impact, shutting his eyes tight and tensing, but it was not snow that hit him, but something harder, familiar?
He felt weightless, he was flying? Was he dead?
He peeked one eye open and saw what he thought must be heaven. Mountain peaks that seemed to stretch for miles, glistening with snow in the cool light of the morning sun, surrounded by a sea of clouds that made the mountain peaks look like a string of islands.
He took a breath.
Then the roaring came back to him. It was right behind him, he whipped his head around to see that was was speeding just ahead of the crashing snow. How...?
A second sound echoed in front of him, a scream? Loud, long, high and... joyful?
Below him was an enormous Stryx, one he thought only existed in myth and legend. A Gryph had picked him up, just before the avalanche could reach him, saving his life surely. He wasn't in her talons, or her belly, which means it didn't seem that she meant to eat him. In fact, aside from her apparent avalanche surfing, she seemed to be taking him somewhere, but where?
