This is the actual ornament which will go to the lucky winner of the auction. And of course the winner will be able to use this turn-around of the sculpture for additional reference for Azar. I guess that's one of the plus sides to having a character in 3D, it's easy to see the markings for multiple angles!

Character Background:
In the first dealings between Shisa and Human, the Shisa were not like the physical guards or warriors which were seen at later dates. They were also not domesticated or prisoners as seen in the great palaces along the trade routes. They were independent creatures with a high intelligence, although the base energy of these creatures has always been an aggressive one. Early Shisa were limited in their physical capabilities. In fact, most of them were unable to cross into the physical world, but a select few would push their way into and inhabit the same physical world as humans.

The story of Azar probably would not have involved any humans, except that the rivers and lands which her lines inhabited in the spirit world were quickly changing with increasing trade routes in the physical world. Increased activity in the physical still causes quite a stir in the Shisa's world - this is where Azar's job came into play. Her job should have been easy, short, and sweet. A simple message to an influential human through dream would normally do the trick, right? Human politics are never that simple. Moreover, in playing the chess game of trade route politics, Azar finds herself in a close friendship with one of these humans. A young woman who is able to pick up on Azar's messages particularly well becomes Azar's greatest ally and connection into the physical world. Although on the surface this young lady was far from being influential, the Shisa grew quite attached to her and could accomplish much through their bond. On the other end, Azar often aided the woman in dealings with travelers along the trade route, Azar's talent for discernment became especially useful to the pair.

Even with this strong bond, the relationship had still been between two beings existing in two different ways, and miscommunications were still an issue. Azar is thrown into dismay when her human companion comes across some shady dealings. She must tell her human the true intention of these shady merchants before the young woman is stolen away. Suddenly Azar's little game to hold back a growing trade route becomes a personal quest to deliver truth to her close friend before it's too late. When no other lines of communication are open, the Shisa is left with no other choice but to manifest in the physical world, but how could she possibly take on this near impossible task?

Shisa Ornament Info
Each Shisa measures about 2 inches tall and 2 inches wide. From sculpting, to casting, to hand painting, these pendants are all done by my own hand, so you can be sure that much love is poured into each of these unique critters. They're cast in a sturdy resin which is then hand painted in acrylic and pastel. Afterwords, they're sealed in a protective varnish and a ribbon best matching their colors is added for easy hanging, hopefully in a place where they they can be good guardian critters!
