Ehm.... I am so sorry for making that thing again. I try not to make it a habit, but.... seriously that sentence always confused me because....... He keeps going on how he wants to have babies -the whole reason He helped Madam Red was because he wanted his own baby. And He all know that that he basically told Sebastian he'd like to give his children birth and then on the next moment he claims not liking Children. HeΕ said that repeatedly. Anyone care to explain?Also it is very evident that I do not - nor I claim to own Black Butler.

I acctually have a slight headcanon involving around this. I personally think that he Always wanted to have children but that, that was the reason for him to say that he isn't very much into children. He knows that he will never be able to bear a child of his own so it rather hurts him to see children around, knowing that, that could have been his own child. In my headcanon, it rather hurts him to look at children because he wants to have one of his own. He also can't reap children, for example with the young boy he and William had to reap. In the end he kept drawing back telling William that they could maybe let him live. If it was possible for him to somehow conceive a child of his own flesh and blood he would maybe be more around the children. Don't forget that there are males in real life who would have loved to bear a child. I hope you understand my bad English...

Pfff, I'm glad you understood it, when I try to explain things my English tends to get very bad, unless I write stories, for some reason... :/
But anyway, we all have our own views as to why Grell wants to bear children yet doesn't really "like" kids as he said so.

This is just my theory but, I always thought this ova was set before the anime/manga and before he met Madam Red and Sebastian. I don't know. I could very well be wrong. But that's the only way I can see this comment making some sense (unless it is how the German dub makes it sound). If this was set before the anime/manga, and Grelle is much younger, maybe he wasn't interested in kids then. Again, just my theory.

Where did this happen? It makes me think of one of the OVA's where Undertaker says something different from his norm, something about 'not needing laughter anymore'.
Of course that happened in the OVA ("Making of Kuroshitsuji II" I think it was called) so I know Undie's comment wasn't canon ... but then again most of the anime doesnt' mesh with the amnga

I'm not going to beat a dead horse, because everyone's come up with some great answers already. But I must say, I love this motivational; the sub-sentence is usually my reply whenever I hear this line XD
But yeah, I think it's meant to be more along the lines of "I'm no pedophile." In the new English dub, I think the line is "Oh, honey, you know I'm not interested in children. They just aren't my thing. But you, YOU I can nibble on any day of the week!" So yeah, I think the interpretation is more meant to be "I want to bear a child, not screw one." XD

I mean - Yeah by now IΒ΄ve gotten the same idea myself, but he also expresses the fact that he doesnΒ΄t really like children in the season 1 episode where he dresses as a choir boy so I m always like: " Excuse me?"

Yeah. Me neither. I'm busy getting my degree from college, and I've got a promise ring as an extra measure. I know I want kids, and a loving husband, someday, but I need to meet someone first, and I also want to pursue a prosperous music career, regardless of what my mother's trying to do to prod me in the direction of math and science. I want a job for emotional fulfillment, not a big fat pay check.
