At least they're in a field. That's a hell of an improvement on how America and many other countries treat their meat livestock.

Yes, but it's not usual. Normally they are in dark, narrow places, to be more heavy... Poland is also treats very cruel animals.
Thank You

We tried to stop the transportation of horses to Italy - we tried hard but with no effect ... Why ? Why do they maltreat them so ? Fu**ing business ... All because of money ... I will never give up that fight .

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Wirikos In reply to firenzi [2008-06-24 21:52:06 +0000 UTC]

We think, the horse should be no longer a "meat animal", but - as You say - this is a very strong business with much money behind.
May be an illness comming from horses meat (like Kreuzfeld-Jacob disease through cows, but much more stronger and more dangerous) would definitely change this situation. So... we pray for such disease, not making horses ill but those who eat them.
Thank You for adding our photos.

Yes , you are absolutely right . ItΒ΄s real punishment to live with this knowledge in my head - somewhere is a truck full of exhausted horses and leads them to face to death . They are horses no more - just bodies , the reflection of ,,great human,, .

About 40 tousands go abroad from Poland every year to be killed in slaughter- houses. I even don't know how many are yearly killed in Poland. There are only 365 days in a year. Guess how many only polish horses die daily, and how about the others? Romania? Spain? etc . It's a horror.

And it's only thanks some fighting pro animal organizations. There were more then 100 tousands a year when they started, but it's still to much... Every suffering animal is this one too much.

Wonderful photo...It's hard and very sad to imagine that these beautiful creatures have now all been eaten...I know a lot of other animals are raised for food, but horses represent so much for me that I just find it horrible that it happens to them too.

Yes. It is awful. Every Monday in the South part of our country on the biggest horse market of Europe, hunderts of horses are seld to slaughter-houses in Italy, France, Germany and Poland to. And so starts the "road to hell"...
Are there photos of Your horses in your gallery?

Przynajmniej te ktore moga sie pasc na zielonych lakach w Polsce calymi dniami, i te ktore nie sa faszerowane antybiotykami i hormonami wzrostu, moga troszke "zycia" zasmakowac przed smiercia. Natomiast wiekszosc zwierzat hodowanych na uboj dookola swiata, musi zyc w OKROPNYCH warunkach, w ciaglej mece i cierpieniu , i sa faszerowane przeroznymi truciznami. Takie zwierzeta nie zasmakuja nawet chwili normalnego zycia. To jest okropne i przerazajace do jakiego stopnia czlowiek potrafi sie posunac w imie pieniadza.

English: God, I don't even want to think about the sheer numbers of animals dying around the world, on a DAILY basis, just to satisfy human whims But you know, there is a big difference in how animals are raised before they're killed. At least those raised grazing on the green meadows in Poland all day long, and those who are not stuffed with antibiotics and growth hormones, can taste a little bit of good life, before they die. On the other hand, the vast majority of animals raised to be killed around the world, have to live in HORRIBLE conditions, in constant pain and suffering , and they're stuffed with a variety of poisons. These animals will never taste even a little bit of the good life. It is horrible and frightening to what extent human beings are willing to go in the name of money and profit.

Well, I know for a fact that in Romania a special kind of salami was made from horse meat, the Sibiu Salami, and it was considered a delicacy. Today they modified the recipe trying to achieve the same taste, but those who had the original say it's not even close.
Point: it's sad indeed because we relate to horses more than with any other meat-giving animal. I never ate horse meat (that I know of), but if we all of a sudden started looking at live stock humanely...we'd all be vegetarians, right? I've seen pigs being cut for Christmas, lambs for Easter and even the occasional chicken or pigeon for a special meal, and although they're a cruel site to be seen, it never seemed to stop me from enjoying the meal...I simply don't want to be a hypocrite. I mean, think that chickens are taken by the neck and someone chops their head off...and their bodies still twitch for another 10 minutes. But you still eat chicken, right?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

zarhx In reply to Biutz [2009-07-06 22:57:36 +0000 UTC]

I agree. There are millions of animals per year that we treat like crap, as if they have no feelings or life of their own.

I don't believe any animal is better than another. Chickens deserve as much of a good life as horses, and so do cows. Hell, chickens and any other animal deserve the quality of life humans strive for.

Biutz In reply to zarhx [2009-07-08 09:18:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, well now the EU is forcing farmers to provide "proper" living conditions for their animals, but they don't seem to know that most villages don't have running water or sewerage! As I've said before, I'm all for decent treatment to the animals, but not in people's detriment!

zarhx In reply to Biutz [2009-07-09 09:45:58 +0000 UTC]

Wirikos In reply to Biutz [2007-03-20 09:15:52 +0000 UTC]

Hmm. You wrote, what many do in such a case, what means to try showing an other extremum. We don't think to be vegetarian is wrong. Rather the oposite.Yes I eat chicken, but try to eat meat less than more, and don't eat 'higher animals'. I wouldnn't eat a chicken knowing I have to kill it.I eat fish (but not tunas because of dolphines that die in tunas nets)I just try, but am not good enough in it. I liked what Paul McCartney said a long time ago, that he doesn't eat meat for he likes animals. I think it's reason enough.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Biutz In reply to Wirikos [2007-03-20 09:47:58 +0000 UTC]

I'm not an extremist (hopefully), I was merely trying to show you the other side of the coin. Congrats on trying to eat less meat (although you know the essential protein and amino-acids our body needs is taken from meat), I'm not that determined. As for McCartney all my consideration on being a vegetarian (but what about all those leather coats? )
Anyway, I respect your opinions and beliefs and thank you for allowing me to express mine.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Wirikos In reply to Biutz [2007-03-20 10:35:22 +0000 UTC]

Are You sure this leather coats are 'natural'? And we really don't attack You personaly, so there is no need to look for arguments 'for' or 'against'. We are against cruelity toward animals in many, many areas and ways and: yes, we are against eating horses. We think people eat enough other animals (more then necessary) and eating horses is in our opinion barbarian.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Biutz In reply to Wirikos [2007-03-20 14:53:11 +0000 UTC]

I don't really feel attacked...should I? All I said and still stand by it is that one who declares himself a humanitarian should act in that manor in all aspects of life, not only giving up meat! As for the horse debate...never ate one, and probably never will.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Wirikos In reply to Biutz [2007-03-21 10:23:59 +0000 UTC]

And we think it is even a little extrem: "everything" or "nothing". We didn't say we are "humanitarian", we just said we are against cruelity toward animals. We do what we can, to support those, who spend all their lives helping animals. We think it's better to do even a little, than to do ...nothing. Thats probably the difference in Yours and ours way of thinking. Thats all
