the creaking pulse of sunlightis beginning to shimmer
deafening the surrounding crowds.
can't you hear it?

when I laugh,
the tiny rumbles of my closeted chest
are lovingly gawking at your idle
knees
can't you see it?
&
soon enough,
we'll be delightfully estranged
to one another,
collecting triangles as memorials
for when our family photos
are buried.
can't you imagine it?
&
if I carry your baby,
if I ever hear him whispering
into my stomach,
"mother, mother"
I'll know he's inherited your
deep dimples
and blonde streaked hair.
&
won't you hope for that, too?
