Description An old woman begins her walk down an alleyway, and a would-be onlooker slams his window shut on an all-too familiar scene as shadows emerge, taunting her from the darkness.

The first page of a comic book I've been wanting to get started. I finally had the opportunity to do it for a class project! My narrative class. Is it sad that the best incentive I ever seem to have to start something is for the sake of a grade? I drew it by hand then shaded it in photoshop, for those of you that are interested.

For the few things my classmates found confusing:
One. The guy slams the window because he is kind of a coward and has seen people get mugged in this alleyway enough to know that he doesn't want to see it again.
Two. The character that speaks in the fourth panel is the smirking face, not the granny. I changed the word bubble to have a hangy-part now, so it's probably not as confusing as it was (it was just the box before, I thought it'd make sense since her mouth wasn't open and there were no hangy-bits pointing to her mouth, but apparently that's not the case)
AND three. Yes, it IS a very dark composition. I tend to color that way, black and white or otherwise I lightened it up a bit, though, and the panels don't seem to get lost as much as they did.

SO! Who is accosting the elderly woman in the alleyway? Why do the ruffians vaguely resemble fruit? Will she survive the encounter?! Who will swoop in to save the day?!! Tune in next time to find out!
