Oh, this is a rather profround depiction of the character. Somewhat of a more bestial apperance.

Really nice take on the character - I'm not a huge fan of the scrawny, emaciated look they went for in the films and this really gives the character back a sense of dread; you can imagine this being a creature the Goblins were afraid of meeting when venturing into the deep caves. To my mind the film designers kept too slavishly to the idea that Gollum is an unnaturally old hobbit, and didn't really factor in that he was supposed to have been warped physically by the Ring into something horrible.
