This is sketched from a photo by Boris Vallejo, an amazing photographer. It appears in his book Bodies, published by Thunder's Mouth Press.Done with Ebony pencil.
Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated! This drawing was more for technical practice than artistic value; Vallejo's original is the art.

"Boris Vallejo, an amazing photographer" what? boris a photographer? Of what is of my knowledge.. he is THE BEST hand drawer of the world! but photography?? where did you saw that he was a photgrapher? i would like to know more about that..

Great drawing, I can't believe I had not commented on this before, but the pose it very powerful as others on here did say. And the technique gives it a certain feel that I don't think could be improved apon.

have you checked out julie Bell's work?
She is very near Mr. Vallejos stylr but with a more femenin touch de grace

I've read that book... Mr Vallejo is indeed a rather talented photographer (as well as a very good airbrush artist) and this is a very cool sketch!

Anatomically (sp?) That is a wonderful drawing. I used to sketch from the da vinci book with all his body study notes for practice.

Great pose. I'm sure it was a good photo. Good job showing muscle definition, and overall, the peice really puts off a good graceful look, as if a dancer, or gymnist were stretching before a performance.the shading is awesome.. especially on the hair. some people just amaze me, on how good they make the hair... it's one thing I just cannot do, and almost give up on sometimes. great work... really like this one

The muscle depiction is fantastic. I wish you had more deviations to ogle. But the ones you have are always of the utmost quality.
