Description German immigration in the United States began in the 17th Century and continued into the late 19th Century at a rate exceeding that of any other country.

At the beginning of 18th Century, economic problems in Germany brought a new wave of immigrants. Nearly one million German immigrants entered the United States in the 1850s; this included thousands of refugees from the 1848 revolutions in Europe.

This phenomenon of "chain migration" strengthened the already existing German regions in the United States (they are most numerous in California, followed by Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois, and Texas).

German-American relations were more focused on labor movement than in government. Labor union membership enabled German immigrants to improve working conditions and to integrate in American society as a whole.

(U.S Diplomatic Mission to Germany, 2008)

Oh gawd, WHY?!! Why must you two look so frickin' adorable together?!

Okay, I need to stop researching about German-American relations or else it'll kill me!

On second thought, maybe it doesn't sound that bad..

It's a cute pic, and a good idea, but there's a bit of a problem with some of that reasoning. The people of the nation is one thing; the governments entirely another. German, Italian, Chinese, and Mexican immigrates made/make up a large majority of the US population, despite whatever hardships they faced in America. The governments, however, generally didn't agree or appreciate each other. Even nowadays, Germany and America tend to but heads on more than one topic (but then again, when do half the US politicians not make fools of themselves whilst opposing something European).

So, I suppose it depends on if you view the characters as a representation of the people, the stereotype, or the government.

Thanks! Yeah, having the fringe does look kinda good on Ludwig. Wish the series would feature more episodes with his hair down.

Thank you so much! Glad you like it! I gotta admit that even before getting into this fandom, I find American and German cultures very interesting. The anime just helped me sky-rocket this fascination of mine into a full scale.

You're welcome! Oh I know. I was always interested in German-American relations and the German culture. Even going as far as to actually learn a bit of German.[Still doing such] And then Hetalia came to be and gave me another reason to obsess over it all. X3

They really are, it's so adorable!
It'a a shame the main series doesn't focus on their international relations. ;n;
But I will say that most American's can trace their ancetry to Germany. Inclueding myself! *3/4 German XD*

True that! I also noticed that most American surnames have german-related meanings to it such as "Schneider", which means "taylor"; "Meyer", which means "fisher"; and others, something like that. Kinda makes me think how great the influence these two countries bring together.

Wisconsin is also a big German-American state (many of America's big name breweries are located there).

And they are adorable together because they just are, no ifs, ands, or buts. lol Anyway, loverly picture, makes me smile on the inside. :3
