I swear my style changes in every pic I've been submitting lately orz
this was kinda intentional tho?? at least at first it was lmaoo
I was trying to draw the lineart at least in the su style but then their eyes looked FUCKED so I was like nah for the most part

but anyway I love the Steven Universe au???
Sam is Blue Topaz (Texas' state gem) and Belle is Clear Quartz!!
I'll go ahead and explain some stuff Adri and I came up with in this au bc honestly I at least have been thinking a lot about it pff

so first of all let's discuss male looking gems. I came up with a sorta headcanon as to why they haven't appeared in the show yet. sooo what if it's just very rare in general for them to be created?
like maybe they only pop out of the ground like what every 1000 years which compared to all other gems isn't very often at all ofc. not only this but bc of their rareness they usually serve in the aristocracy close to the diamonds, and since they've never shown Homeworld or anything like that that could be why we haven't seen them? not only this but bc of their rareness they may be taken to doing less risky work, no fighting at all, like for example in this au Sam is a healer and very much a pacifist. this is of course just me making shit up. male looking gems may not even rlly exist but if they do and I hit close to the mark that would be cool af

secondly how they met in this au. so during the Gem Rebellion Belle was fighting for the diamonds. she was poofed and her gem ended up cracking slightly. she ended up being taken to Sam who was head of this place that was basically like an infirmary for gems?? it's where they went if they were poofed for them to be able to regenerate safely. well bc her gem was cracked she stayed there a little bit longer than most and so she and Sam became friends or at least pretty well acquainted with each other. one day tho she saw him go to one of the warp pads and leave. she was like "wtf are u doing" bc I feel like non warrior gems as in those that weren't directly fighting in the rebellion weren't allowed to go down to Earth

well next time she saw him go she followed him. Belle eventually found him in this pretty forest. he was ofc all like "please don't tell Blue Diamond" (his diamond) and she ended up promising she wouldn't. needless to say they started going down to Earth a lot together where Sam showed her the beauty of it he had seen in the few times he had visited before. now even tho he did like Earth he still wouldn't do anything to stop the Diamonds bc he had a more "let's enjoy it while it's still like this." I can't say he was necessarily nonchalant towards the situation but he didn't particularly feel extremely alarmed as to what was happening as he trusted the Diamonds knew what was best for them

eventually as to be expected they got caught and were brought before Blue Diamond. bc Sam was such a high member of her court, she blamed Belle for getting them in trouble with her saying she had tricked him into going to Earth or some shit despite Sam telling her it was his fault. she was gonna send Belle to be shattered but then Sam pulled a Sapphire act and they escaped (although they went thru the warp pad that wasn't too far away not by jumping off the edge lmao)

now Blue Diamond was like "fuck not this again" bc ofc how Sapphire another high member of her court had done something similar. so she sent gems after them trying to get Sam back but never succeeded bc Belle always beat the crap out of them ;')
sooo after the Diamonds left Earth when they were defeated they stopped coming and Sam and Belle were left behind. they probs ended up traveling a lot around Earth until I guess they met the Crystal Gems when Steven was with them

a few difference in this au: since Belle is a quartz gem she is taller in comparison to Sam than usual in this au (although bc she stayed in the ground a little too long she isn't as big as regular quartz gems). I also love that in this au she's the one that's protective of him?? in most aus with Sam being his big buff self he's super protective of Belle but in this au tbh he's pretty soft pff
like I mentioned before he's a pacifist, having been made for healing instead of fighting as I mentioned before, and thinks fighting should only be done when necessary so she's always there to protect him ;7;
