The canteens are nearly dry. Your party members are sun-burned, sun-blind, and weary beyond reckoning--cresting one dune to find only another just like it, endless scorching sands. This time, though, you all slide to a stop at the base of a particularly towering sandhill to find...trees? Surely it must be a mirage. You trudge toward the palms with their verdant fronds, towards a swath of shrubs and hardy succulents. Beyond a stand of leaning trees, you see the tell-tale glimmer of...WATER. Clear and pure, the sun glancing off its surface, an oasis lake awaits you beyond the seemingly impossible vegetation. In their hurry to splash their faces and refill their canteens, you and your fellow adventurers do not at first notice the island in the middle of the strange lake in this improbable oasis. You look up, and suddenly, a chill that has nothing to do with the coolness of welcome shade skitters over your spine. What is this place, and is it fortune or a curse that has brought your party here?
