Description When practicing paleoart, it's important to break out of the habit of tracing which was something I had trouble with and continue to have issues with since I don't do paleoart nearly enough as I'd like to. I trace a fair amount still however this work was a step outside my comfort zone for the first time after making traces of HodariNundu's Aenocyon dirus work & a random Quetzalcoatlus I found in Google Images. I still made them unique in coloration with some other choices however I have since deleted them from my portfolio because these kinds of works in my eyes are not up to standards and going forward I'm trying my best to become more original with my approach to paleoart.

Baxter Smith is an entelodont (commonly referred to colloquially as "terminator pigs" or "hell pigs") which has clearly been through a lot. This is to showcase their violent lives, as they likely had disputes whilst alive. The specific genus & species of Baxter Smith is Archaeotherium mortoni. The basis for the name came from my friend Gatba who is a notable member on my discord server as he advocates for enviornmental solutions to the anthropogenic climate change we all experience at the moment (discord.gg/7gMSf7d99S ), and the discord server itself is dedicated to my youtube channel (www.youtube.com/channel/UCbFoF… ), which also has an educational video documenting the "current" understanding of Entelodontidae (the taxonomic grouping A. mortoni is a apart of) which the link for that is (youtu.be/Kth4op89pFU ).

The visual basis/structure comes from a specimen on display at the American Museum of Natural History located in Manhattan, a borough of New York City (my hometown which I still currently reside in, however I am not in Manhattan). This work overall is a second edition due to major shrink wrapping issues around the head area which since has been fixed. I am open to any constructive critiques of my art to make them better going forward. I create all of my paleoart at the moment via digital means which are avaliable to me on my iPad along with my stylus which I got off Amazon. I made Baxter Smith within a discontinued adobe drawing software known as Adobe Draw.
