Description "Stop throwing things, people, you care about away!" Shots fired.
And just like that the wolf was down, a bullet ripped through her aorta and destroyed her vena cava. There was no last breath, no ripples of muscles as they twitched their last twitch. A flicker of an ear, maybe, but it could have been the breeze. The dark wolf fell hard, skinning her knees and bruising her chin. Her fur ruffling against the pressure, uncomfortable - But comfort was useless now.
The heart was destroyed, un-beating. The arteries ran away from the heart and tried to move blood that wasn't there. The veins waited for a breath that was never taken. But the mind, the mind stayed active. Images of things that were, had been, never would be, all flashed through her brain. The vision was darkening, turning grey and fading to black, but it was still clear.
She had cared. She had cared a lot. She had loved. Vivid images, this pitch black wolf running steadily with this red one. Mud covered their bellies, ran up their muscled legs, even spattered their grinning maws. Teeth white and shining, snapping at silver flecks of fish in streams as they blazed on through. Loud whines and the red wolf paused as the black turned back, waded the stream and picked up a tiny brown puppy - their tiny brown puppy - and carried her across.
Their were nights spent in foreign dens, flashing before her ever fading vision. A large, equally dark wolf asleep beside her, their flanks touching ever so lightly. A contended grin on the maw of the she-wolf, tail flicking. More scenes, more wolves. Lightly coloured lithe females, licking her face and nuzzling her scruff. Silver, furry wolves with butterflies always after them. Landing on her nose and irritating her, but when she snapped at them they were gone.
Real-time returned, the wolfess opened her eyes for the last time and saw, above her, the red wolf. Teeth bared and blood dripping from his chin. Her blood. The eyes rolled back, she didn't want to see anymore. Human scent filled her nostrils but there was no reactions, only negative emotion and then only nothing. Blackness. She had thrown her last bit of self away, and here she lay, thrown away her self.
