Agh I FINALLY finished this, and we finally get to meet one of my favorite characters in the story: Yanez! That big lovable grump. Lol.

After the trio had walked onward for a while, Adak finally broke the silence, letting out a frustrated scoff, and said:

- Pff. This is ridiculous. Nobody's watching us. Kyla is just scared.

- Hey! Don't think I didn't notice that worried look on your face as well, Kyla responded with an annoyed tone, but Adak just rolled his eyes.

- I wasn't worried, he grumbled, and Kyla chuckled.

- Yeah, right.

- Guys, will you knock it off? interrupted Jack, walking ahead, and the two looked at him.

- Whether someone is watching us or not, we need to stay on alert. You never know if there's an enemy out there, planning a sneak attack, he continued, with a raised brow and glanced to both his sides. Adak let out a small laugh.

- Oh please, Jack. It's not like someone is just gonna jump outta nowhere and -

The husky didn't get to finish his sentence when a howl flew threw the air, and then, like a speeding bullet, a huge wolf with a silvery coat jumped - as Adak described it - out of nowhere, lunging towards Jack with a loud growl, and pushing him towards the rocks, making the wolfdog fall down and grunt from pain.

- Jack!! shouted both Adak and Kyla in shock, Jack tried to get up, but the wolf pushed him down with his large paw, and insisted angrily:

- Who are you? Where are you coming from? Who sent you?!

- N-nobody sent us! We-we're from Nome, on our way to meet up with my friend, and - Jack began with a shaky voice, but now, the wolf lowered his head and took a closer sniff at him, and growled.

- Wait - you're just a bunch of human pets! What business do you have in these parts? Answer me! he growled, letting his paw off of Jack, but now, Adak jumped in between the two.

- Hey! Leave him alone, you brute! the husky yelled boldly, and the wolf took a step back.

- Are you challenging ME, dog? he asked, with a raised brow, and an arrogant tone which made the young husky's blood boil. Adak let out a growl, but before he could respond, Kyla rushed over to Jack and yelled:

- Jack! Jack, sweetie, are you okay?

She nudged Jack's side with her head, helping the shaken wolfdog get back on his feet, he grunted quietly and shook his head, but finally managed to get up.

- Yeah, I'm fine, he sighed, and Kyla nudged his chin with her nose. Adak glanced over his shoulder at them, and then looked back at the wolf.

- Listen, you big bully. You're gonna be sorry you laid a paw on my friend! he growled, and the wolf just looked at him, with a raised brow, and smiled. Just then, a howl was heard in the air, and right after that, another one from a different direction, and they were definitely not far. The three friends all lifted their heads with concerned looks, and Kyla let out a small gasp, moving closer to Jack.

- I wouldn't be so sure about that, dog, said the wolf, licking his lips with a smile. There was no doubt about it - the trio was surrounded.
