Fantastic Shot. I hope to be able to visit your sanctuary some time. It's sad that they passed. The sanctuary I do volunteer work at recently lost one and they have two more that are getting up there in age.

I was doing photo work for the Saint Francis Wolf Sanctuary in Montgomery Texas. [link] They lost Khan before I got there this winter, I wish I was there so I could have gotten a picture of him for the volunteers.

I no longer work at the sanctuaries, rather with them if I can. Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary and Mission:Wolf were the two I lived and worked at.

When you work at/with a sanctuary, what is there that you can do? There are not any near me, but, if possible, I might move closer to one.

Yeah, you can interact with certain wolves but fostering them is out of the question. Very few people do that and honestly, most don't do a very good job. Wolves are very different from dogs thus handling them is quite different. They are wild animals, not pets.

The sanctuary does that should pups be brought in. Sanctuaries will neuter or sterilize the wolves brought in because these animals can not be reintroduced back into the wild and there are virtually no homes suitable for them to live at. The sanctuaries are highly opposed to the breeding of wolves with human assistance. Its rare to get pups and usually only happens when the animals had to be forcefully repossessed from unacceptable/illegal situations. All the wolves that come to sanctuaries are there because it was be there or be dead. That is the harsh reality of it and one of the main reasons of the sanctuaries is to educate about this.

Ah, no matter. They are happy in a new life or looking down on the loved ones they left behind, I'm sure. Plus, I will always have a piece of him in my heart and in my personal jewelry.

This is a gorgeous picture! I just love how the closest wolf is in perfect clarity and the one in the back is faded out slightly. This came out fantastically well. When I get the extra money, I'm going to buy this print, and display it on my wall with pride.

Wow, what a beautiful picture, and your story made me cry. I love wolfies so much and wish I didn't live in Florida, where there aren't many wolfie places.
