Character History:
Leon was first conceived during the mid-late 2000s, when Ryan Ekis was in middle school. Ryan has a Star Fox esque dream featuring Leon as the son to Fox McCloud. The character lingered for weeks following the dream, and Ryan decided to try to make something with the idea, thus creating Leon.

At first, Leon was a bit more of a Gary Stu. As Ryan had made Leon everything that he himself wanted to be, Leon was borderline practically perfect in every way, like Mary Poppins. As such he was more of a 1-D Character.

Eventually, Matthew Lionheart came along, and with him came a roiling cauldron of teenage angst directed into a single shining dagger of literary criticism. After a disastrous attempt at a sixty-five-chapter epic, Ryan and Matty came to a conclusion: Leon needed some serious work. So they did just that in the following years as Ryan was in college, giving Leon understandable flaws and vices, and making him a 3-D character.

Around the same time, Ryan was an active user of the TekTek Avatar Creator website for Gaiaonline, with which Ryan created the basis for Leon’s signature look, with various tweaks and adjustments in the years that followed.

As the years progressed, Leon was used in various projects, like Pokemon Hikario, YGO BRAVE and UNITY, Knights of Hope, as well as a number of short stories, all the while gaining an ever growing family.

He’s always taken several forms, notable a Grey wolf, both anthro and feral, a Riolu, and a dragon.

However the next significant change came with an idea back in the summer of 2016, Hot Wheels Acceleration Zone. While the story was technically never presented to the public, preliminary character designs led to the creation of an alternate iteration of Leon, titled Wave Leon, a more laidback character, and led to the addition of the cyan highlight in later designs.

Reaching 2018, Leon now has roles in several Major Projects.

Pokemon Hikario, as the primary protagonist, Leon.

Yu-Gi-Oh UNITY, as a main protagonist, in the Wave Leon design.

Beast Brothers Studio, as Leon the Wolf, the Character avatar for Ryan.

The Ultimate Game, as a main protagonist.

It’s safe to say this character’s come a long way.

Defining Trait(s):

Creativity: Whereas as others might just see things as they are, Leon tends to imagine what could be. He’s an idealist and a dreamer. But this also comes out as unique ideas, or thinking outside the box

  • In Hikario, after some good beginner’s training, starts battling creatively. He battles with wit and always finds a way to with the battle fair and square, even if it’s way never thought of before.

  • In UNITY, Leon is a creative gamer who uses his ability to wittily defeat his opponents in ways they don’t anticipate, and a Duelist who’s always coming up with unique new strategies.

  • In Paw Patrol: As a Field Pup, without a main focus, Leon has the unique perk of being able to use various tools in combination, and find a way to be a help in any mission.

Determination: Leon never, ever loses his drive to succeed. He doesn’t give up when the chips are down.

  • In Hikario: Leon is determined to defeat his father, and get answers as to why he treated him so poorly.

  • In UNITY: Leon wants to bring, well, unity to the world, and to do so by helping others smile and have fun through gaming. But he also wants to make and keep true friends, and be accepted for who he is, despite his disabilities.

  • In Paw Patrol: Leon takes his new role seriously. Given the things he needed that were denied to him by so many others, Leon was not about to let down the ones who gave him a chance.

Unity: Leon, in various ways, bringing people together. Just by being himself, he unities worlds, brings family together, and can even bring the most stubborn rivals together.

  • In Hikario: His ability to understand Pokemon makes him the center point in better understanding the Pokemon World, allowing him to unite his Pokemon more as family, as opposed simply being a team. In addition, his kind nature lets him be translator for others to their Pokemon, bringing humans and Pokemon together even stronger than ever before. Finally, by progressing through the leagues, Leon shows others that you don’t have to be ‘normal’ to be successful, building a fanbase as he inspires others.

  • In UNITY: Well, what’s the story title? He connects others and helps strengthen bonds almost habitually. Leon becomes a sort of union point for the members of Overdrive United, as they all care about him as much as they do each others. And then, as an autistic duelist for the best dueling team in the world, other members of the autistic community rally behind him, as others realize that Autism doesn’t make you less of a person.

  • In Paw Patrol: Joining the Paw Patrol allows Leon to help others, and bring others together just by being himself. Alongside Tommy, Leon helps the Paw Patrol grow and unite in times of stress and helps bring out everyone’s best.
