Description This is probably one of the most contested and controversial pieces we have included in our publications, as it faces one of the most tragic events of the last century, if not the whole millennia.
The purple dragon’s death.
Scholars and official artists of all the realms always regarded this topic with utmost care and respect, conforming to the canons of the Temple Council, issued years of discussion and deliberation following the Starborn’s (Spyro, epitome a.n.) demise.

This piece was originally posted as a scandalous print on one of the most vulgar and dubious papers around Warfang at the time, done by one of the illustrators of the production team, based on the description of an eyewitness to the real scene, a scene that depicts maybe the most heartbreaking moment in Cynder’s life.
In this figure we see Cynder holding a cloth drenched with the blood of her mate, following the ultimately failed tentative to save his life (and probably in the moment she realized that there was nothing more to do).
There aren’t many things to say about the technique or the manufacture of this piece: the style is mediocre to say the least, as it was done in less than a night’s work, and most importantly the scene was knowingly exaggerated by the author, who also is evidently not able to draw properly clothing and drapery. In addition is important to say that this is one of the last exemplars of this print, due to the limited pressing and the fragility of the paper it was printed on (as it can be seen, the picture presents holes and deformations, especially in the right side).

The publication of the article and this print generated an enormous stir in the populace, seen as an affront to the black dragoness’s privacy and to the whole Spyro family.
In less than a few months the paper was out of business and the name of the artist and the source( a nurse in need of good money ) were leaked.

We decided to include this print in this book since it is still one of the few pieces in existence that, with its brutality, describes the fragility of life, and that even legends come to an end.
