I think the idea of mermaids being women dressed as seals came from Norway or Ireland any whos i really like how you took those stories and incorporated it to this picture so many just do the 'classic' mermaids half-woman and half-fish.

The Selkie is a creature from Scottish mythology, and it was a Selkie I wanted to draw, not a mermaid.

well i had the Celtic bit right. As for the Selkie/Mermaid mixup i've only ever heard about 'Selkie' from an old friend and they always referred to them as 'Mermaids'. guess i should do research more often XP
