The First MK Tournament would be held in 1983, a year after Rambo's little rampage up in the mountains. So yes, this coincides with Kharacters like Cassie and Jacqui appearing in the current timeline.

There will of course be more Tournaments with Outworld in The Guardian-Verse, but mostly invasions from them. Shao Kahn actually does something surprising and (Not gonna spoil but a certain Brudda might have an idea. XD) The there's Dark Kahn who shows up buuuut he's...a little different than his original counterpart.
