It is best to strip off stark naked if possible when changing into anything. That way, you can put your clothes back on when your back to your petrified self again... depending on where you are at the time when you eventually wake up.
I'd prefer Anthromorphism personally. Half human, and half animal / alien, and STILL keep your clothes. The cost could be high and anyone who knows you will ask why are you throwing away your clothes.
