However, I do like the effect you have here, the grainy look to it.

There are filters that can be used for certain effects...I have two kinds of fog filters...sepia tones...an antique coloring filter...and filters of different colors...and others but it's taken years to build that up...they aren't as cheap as they once were...you know...thank you for your warm words Melissa...

This place is creepy to me. Reminds me of some of the images I have in my dreams. I tend to have spells of bad dreams that can haunt me for days. I guess that's why I don't enjoy sleeping too much.

Well that can't be fun...I hope my images don't cause you any nightmares...I was going to try for a photoshoot today but it looks like rain so I'll wait for another time...

Oh no, your images won't cause nightmares to happen. Some remind me of buildings in my dreams. Honestly since I've stopped drinking milk this past month, I no longer have nightmares. Strange but true. I still dream, but nothing like before. It stormed here last night. I walked out in the backyard to take some photos of the flowers this morning, had my sandals on and fell right on my rear end because of the wet walking stones! You can call me Grace. lol The camera went flying and luckily landed lens up in the air in the grass! What a way to start the morning...lol I hope it clears up for you to get out and enjoy taking photos.

Where I live I am quite a ways away from the Cascades (the mountain range here and in Washington) and when there is lightning and thunder it echoes thru the passes and valleys and makes a sound like firecrackers going off...very strange...heard it for hours last night...well try not to have to use your health insurance under such circumstances...you'd never live it down...why milk I wonder...

You are lucky to live in such an area. That would be nice to hear, I love storms. I have no idea what is in milk. I actually stopped drinking it for another reason, but noticed the nightmares ended.

I also experiment as much as possible with filters...fog filters...sepia tones...colored filters...graded filters...depends on what I can afford at the time...filters aren't as cheap as they once were...

It's funny just how expensive filters are now! For a piece of glass... I stocked up big on filters last time I was in Thailand; much cheaper than in Australia, and up your way I can imagine. I wish I had bought a few different coloured filters for b+w photography though.

The two best filters for bringing out the best of b & w are red and yellow filters (this particular yellow filter shows more of a lime-yellow color rther than a straight yellow color) nd yes they are expensive that's why I go slow with their purchase...

Yeah, I've heard about those, but really can't afford to try them, and I would never know which one to use! I guess it's just intuition and experience, and I only started using film 5 months ago because I had to for assignment work. But I fell in love with it.
Do you use each of those filters for particular subjects?

I like to play with certain buildings and may take the same shot but with different filters and slightly different angles to see what I get...I think that the red filter I was talking about cost about $24 or $25 but don't know the cost now...

This place has given me bad vibes every time I've gone there but there are so many deserted buildings to take shots of I just ignore it...but I wouldn't go there at night...

Well can't say for sure because I really don't know but I suspect something residual is still on this property and it was unpleasant...but maybe that's my Apache side warning me...

Could be your Apache side or just your sixth sense that you've allowed to stay open to such things - I grew up in a haunted house and have had quite a few experiences that tell me there's more to life after death than we will ever know scientifically.
How closely related to the indigenous culture are you?

I'm Irish on my mothers side...1/4 Mexican and the rest is Apache on my fathers side...almost a half and half split...I wear my hair long but I've always liked that...I've had visions and dreams...and when I listen to my internal voice I can usually avoid problems or danger...

That's quite an amazing mix - you're also a Celt then too - all fantastic earth cultures you've got in there. Is there an ID pic of you yet in your gallery.
I'm all Celtic stock, Welsh and Scottish, but there's probably some Anglo-Saxon in my bloodline too given that I'm from Yorkshire where a lot of them historically settled.

I know that feeling - I'd be a kid again - actually no I wouldn't I'm too much of a free spirit to be trapped there but you know what I mean. There's nothing wrong with a bit of grey. For a brief while I managed to convince Marie to put a recent ID pick in her gallery and she did but she soon took it down. I think we're all beautiful no matter how old we are.

You should be getting a note real soon...the email bounced back to me...I am a very private person and while I will share with people whom I consider friends such as you and Marie I am not comfortable sharing with the world at large...and it really has nothing to do with age...just how I've always been...
