Honestly their armor design feels a little lazy with just changing the helmet not saying specifically you I'm saying for the series in general

I think originally they had concept art for the entire armor but ended up staying with the 501st body and only the helmet change so they #1 wouldn't need to creat a new unit previously unknown and #2 because rex still wears his 501st stuff and it wouldn't be as impactful in the end if rex was killing, say a bunch of shock troopers/212th/random clone unit as he didn't fight with them the entire war.
