As a nitpick, I don't think leather gauntlets work - big two-handed weapons only rose to prominence -after- heavy plate armor on the hands let warriors go without a shield.

Still love the dogs of war idea.

That would be nice to see actually. Though, not real sure how would they differentiate from the Shugoki considering that both wield clubs/maces.
