So, gang, sometimes comicbooks are very, very silly.⁣
⁣
Meet Sauron. No, not the glowly eye thing from that Hobbit movie. No, this chap was originally a man named Dr. Karl Lykos, respected doctor and hypnotherapist. And while he had at one point become a trusted professional associate of one Professor Charles Xavier (founder of the X-Men, donchaknow), Karl held a terrible (and stupid) secret: at a young age he had been bites by (checks notes) ...yup...a radioactive pterodactyl. ⁣
⁣
And being a comicbook character, this gave him special (and ridiculous) abilities. For some reason, this outlandish and implausible happenstance gave Karl the ability/curse of being an energy vampire. Feeding off unsuspecting humans and animals, Karl somewhat enjoyed his secret shame. Keep him away from me, tho, because I've been told that I'm quite the snack. *crickets*⁣
⁣
Anyway, at some point, Karl was brought in to help Alex Summers (better known as Havok, the mutant brother of the X-Man, Cyclops) who was going through some comicbook medical nonsense. Being compelled to feast on Havok's mutant energy, Karl suffered another silly mutation! He now morphed into a humanoid pterodactyl man with hypnotic powers and a sinister personality about as subtle as his new looks.⁣

Eventually finding his way to the Savage Land, this mixed up nut alternates between being a human ally to folks like Ka-Zar, or losing control and turning back into an evil dino-guy and fighting Spider-Man, the X-Men, Ka-Zar or anyone else who wants to punch a green flying lizard nerd.⁣
