... Um, I'm a Multimedia student in college and am currently working on a video game project, I would be DELIGHTED if I could use some of your images as backgrounds, but I understand if you refuse.

Well first of all it wouldn't be fair to all the other people I fave. All their faves would be lost in all of yours. Secondly I think if you are always giving a compliment it begins to loose meaning. I try and keep all my faves to a small number so that my faves will stay on page one for a while.
