WOW!! Lea, you've done it yet once again! You've written a critique that offers so much more than a "nice texture or color" kind of critique. I so appreciate the in-depth analysis you've given this. God knows, I wanted some feedback on it because I struggled with this one. I agree about the sizes of the fish and the shells. I can rework this a bit and maybe add the missing "jellyfish"!
I was considering starting a collaborative collage - a "collaborage", as it were. I can start with a fractal background or a Photoshop background and ask people to contribute fractalets to it to make a collection of fractals from various artists represented in a single cohesive piece. What do you think of the idea? Do you think people would contribute? Would you contribute? I would credit everyone who sends me a piece for it. Is this a stupid idea? Please let me know your thoughts on this, Lea. I really trust your judgment and I would like some feedback or advice on this.
Thanks again so much for the wonderful critique. My work always seems to take on a whole new dimension for me after you have critiqued it. I always see new things or see things a different way. Thanks for keep me "honest", sweet Lea.
I hope all is OK at home and that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. I will enjoy being off work for a couple of days. This week has been a bear!!

Oh Peggi, you are so welcome! I enjoy giving critiques. I probably don't give what would be considered a very professional critique. I only know what I like and what I think might work better. I try to be objective. I am sure you know how it is. Sometimes I work hours on an image and try different placements and angles and it just doesn't look right, or feel right to me, and I will start over again from the point of the fractal, or just put it away for another time.
I learn to, by giving critiques. It gives me a more discerning eye with my own work. Just like I know that I depend too heavily on tubes. I love the butterflies and I love the flowers and the flowers work so well with the flames. I have pretty much stopped using the poser model tubes and it is really unfortunate in a way because I belonged to one subscription site for a year, and I still belong to one that I have a "lifelong" membership to, and she mainly does female poser model images. But that is fine.
Now as to the "collaborage" I love that word! Artists are soo creative! It would be wonderful! I think it would be great fun and interesting to see what you could do with different flamets. or fractalets.
I would love to contribute! I would have to go through and pull out the big guns and go through all my flames, well maybe not all of them. You just have no clue! I have stuff from 2005 on discs, okay? Found some old pars just the other day! I was so excited! And I am pushing having a gig of par files for apophysis, and that is just my own pars. I keep other people's starters in different folders, It is murder, okay? I have so many folders nested within folders it is unreal. I will keep an eye out for a journal entry about it if you decide to, or you can note me. I am not going to be around as much, as you no doubt have noticed lately. Just a lot of stress and the holidays are always extremely hard for me.
Oh honey, I don't think it is a question of keeping you honest, at all. But having another perspective does help.
Oh and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving sweetie. We all have so many blessings, despite whatever hardships we may be going through and it is good to have that awareness and focus.
I will start looking at flames.

Thanks so much, Dwayne!! And no, this isn't an image in the calendar. I only used a couple of collages for that. Plus, I don't think this one was finished when I uploaded the calendar.

It just amazes me how you find the pieces and put them together. You have some imagination there Peggi. I haven't had the courage to try a fractal manip yet but you are encouraging me to play.

Thanks, Iwona! You should give fractal manips a try. Just find a good background and plunk some interesting fractalets into it. I'm sure you must have plenty around. I'm thinking of doing a "collaborage" - a collage made up of fractals from various artists. I'm playing with the idea. I would like to do something for the holiday season. I just hope I have the time to get it together. Maybe you'd care to contribute if I get it up and running?

Thanks so much for your wonderful comment! I may still add some things to this and make some slight changes based on 's critique. Plus, I'm actually thinking about a "collaborage" - a collage that's a collaboration between a bunch of fractalists who will contribute individual items to a collage. I may provide the background or I may ask one of them to provide a background. I'm still toying with the idea.

Maybe so. But then I'll have to make some other fractal critters and do an Apo Farmyard Collage. Otherwise, the pigs won't have anyone to play with.

I'm so glad you got a chuckle out of this! Now, the question is, do you like the collage?
I really had a lot of trouble with this one. The shells are essentially transparent and the "cave" background gave me fits with the coloring. But, I went ahead with it. Sometimes the more you play with something, the more you make it worse.
