Dragon received 2nd place!

"Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys of all ages, today we present a very rare sight
We present to you are elite, our most talented!
Stag Stream Royal Academy presents their very own royal rider and her mount in-training.
We present, our captain dragon hunter!"

"In our hidden part of this world, we lay a realm where time forgot, and creatures of the ancient world crept to us as the world moved on without them. In our waters, on our moors, up our mountains, beasts of every description prowl. The academy needed a defence, horsemen of true talent and warriors of the bravest hearts. We needed those who could face the fire, and prevail. And so our elite force, handpicked by the Captain of the Guard, were brought to light. And here, leading her most promising mount, is Her Royal Highness, Robyn-Lace. In her hands, the young Traaker mare, Tymerie Ddraig'oon, known as Dragon. Dragon has just begun her training, and will show the basics of what is required of a horse with such a high calling. While she is only young, she is still of use, even without being ridden, her alliance with Robyn makes her most useful."

Robyn led the prancing mare, who's tail was up like a war banner regardless of being wrapped, chomping at the soft snaffle. Her white feet flicked up elegantly, ears twitching to every sound. Various obstacles lay within the circle arena, of all descriptions. Boxes, logs, gates, and a filler painted like fire. Actual fire was not permitted due to health and safety, much to the blonde's disgruntled arguments, so a filler was whipped up to imitate the flickering flames. It was enough for Dragon's first day out, anyways. Robyn released the bay Traaker, who began to circle her on command as their commentator boomed on.

"Here, we see Dragon appear to ring Robyn, every one of their steps in sync. This allows Dragon to move and see what's around her, while staying centered to our captain. If they were up in the mountains, Robyn may be dismounted and need to communicate with Dragon, and this is what forms that level of connection."

Robyn began to jog, and Dragon fell in step at her shoulder, her tail swishing to and fro to the tempo of her own strides. Robyn approached a box, and with a slight raise of the long whip in her hand, indicated her wish. Dragon leapt up onto the box, all four feet perfectly planted.

"Boys and girls, ladies and gentlemen, this goes on perfectly from what I have just told you. Now Robyn and Dragon have cemented that bond with the circling, we can get to work. With the whip Robyn has asked Dragon to trust her, and leap bravely onto a rock. Out at home this may of been a rock, a bridge, or another path. After a bit more training, Robyn will not need the whip, but with Dragon's inexperience it is easier for Dragon to understand what her handler is asking."

The slim girl began to circle the box, and Dragon shuffled round, her neck reaching out to lip tenderly at her handler's face. Robyn made another quick gesture, whistling. The mare stamped a hoof, and bounding off the box and a bellow, charging away with a few back-wrenching bucks, ears forward and eyes bright.

"And here we see a mare with the wind in her toes! Dragon is well-known in the academy for her bold, and loud, personality. This makes her an excellent mount, but sometimes stubborn to work with due to having her own opinion on things. Ladies, eh, gentlemen?"

Dragon exploded round the bottom half of the arena, leaping both the gate and the log as she went. Ears forward, she began to flick her toes into an elegant extended trot, powering up towards her handler. Tossing her head, she snorted, halting to sniff daintily at Robyn.

"Again, demonstrating the sheer power and intelligence needed in a steed, and personality. We can't just let any old nag face off a dragon, or troll, can we? These horses are needed to think not only for themselves, but for their riders, who may be preoccupied with their weapons. But Dragon also shows the bond between horse and hunter, and the equality that is needed for this type of work."

"But our main concern, is bravery."

Dragon snorted, as Robyn sprinted beside her, canter eagerly towards the fire filler. The team had done a very good job, making the flames as realistic as possible. The girl stood behind the 17.2's and whistled, as the mare took off. The Traaker took off with an air of eagerness, ears tuned to the crowd as they gasped. Her forelegs swung forward, reaching for the ground as she arced neatly above the faux flames.

"As usually, it is a baptism by fire."
