Yaay you followed all my tips! Backgrounds are really hard, I usually just 'borrow' a photo off Google, flip it, and run it through some filters. ;D I love the way Weed and Jerome look, but I think you should try branching out on shading. Here's what I do for shading:
Whatever color light is being cast on them, make the shadows the opposite color. Open up a new layer and shade, not just around the edges, but anywhere some thing is blocking the light onto them. It can even be a part of their body, or a round section can be devoid of light, as long as you keep a source in mind. As you've shaded with the color, set the layer to multiply and adjust the saturation and opacity as needed.
For the background I can see you used tree brushes... they look pixely. The snow on them is well done though, but Weed and Jerome seem to have floating dog syndrome- they are hovering above the ground. Add some snow around their feet, covering parts of their tails maybe, to show they are on the ground, as well as them casting a darker shadow on the ground. I like the coloring, and I'm glad you took my earlier advice. Yay, sharp lines!

You have to find a white and black zebra pattern and then change the opacity to really light and smudge everything in with the fur color.
It's very simple and easy, it's just a pain in the ass. :/

Um...critique...I guess if the characters are lying in snow, it would be logical for them to be sinking slightly into the snow and for little snow drifts to be covering parts of their parts and legs. Same concept as if the characters were standing in grass; grass stalks would poke up and cover their paws. Yeah, we'll go with that |D

FYI, I cheated on the brindle pattern, I didn't really draw it. ;] And yes, Mr. Potface is a brindle, they just left that out in the anime.
I noticed they were supposed to be "sunk in" a few minitues after I submitted this. D: But I'm too lazy to go back and fix it. I'm so proud of my fail trees thoughhh. x3

Aw ._. Is Weed supposed to be a Blue Brindle? Because Blue Brindles aren't actually blue with darker stripes; they're more blue with silver stripes, which look cream. IRL, anyway. I figure he could be a Gray Brindle, but he's colored Blue, so yeah O_o
But I guess anime doesn't always make sense.
And if any doesn't make sense, neither does your art |D So they're floating on top of snow; that's cool.

Weed isn't supposed to be blue, PERIOD. He's supposed to be a Silverrr Brindle like his dad, Gin, whose name means "Silver" because he IS silver. D:
I dunno, the anime was fucked up anyway. It doesn't follow the manga at all.
Well, floating dogs in snow are connected with the floating, flying dogs on the Weed mangas, so now everything makes sense...

Wow, that looks SO MUCH like Weed. Yes, it does. Totally makes sense why everyone mistakes him for being blue. LAWL MY BROTHER HAS BLUE DOGS IN HIS CAR, but he refuses to share them with me. :'D

That's because you think your's are god-awful. Drawing can be comparable to writing. Some people can draw some really awesome shit (i draw shit, but I don't consider it awesome), but some people can write novels if they wanted to(that would be you).
I figure some people can only have one or the other.
Then again, some peoiple are jsut so fuking fantastic, they can write AND draw.
