wonderful depth of field gives this image a great sense of distance from the background. The shadows and lighting really add the sense of time. Beautiful detail are evident in the eyes as well the way the mouth is agape suggesting panting in order to cool itsself. There is also a look of concentration in the eyes whether its watching prey or simply looking at the photographer. I really like how the colors transition from darker richer colors to lighter shades. Overall there is a magnificent example of this cats ability to survive in extreme conditions. I find it marvelous.

When I saw his eyes, the first thing I thought was that the whole African savannah was magically reflected in them. That slightly brown gold is such a beautiful color... I imagined the sun setting and looking like that. Simply wonderful.

Light in the eyes always makes them pretty awesome. And yes, it's the setting sun, so he doesn't have issues looking into the proper direction. Thank you for the comment.
