Description
This is the banner of the titular nation, a huge puppet state of the Japanese Empire, and also a member of the Pacific Prosperity Coalition (PPC) within the 'Square of Struggle' universe. After the defeat of Britain and France by Nazi Germany and Italy in the European War, all of the Allies' colonies would be seized and reincorporated as satellite states or direct territory under the new leaders of Europe. Seeing this opportunity to claim dominance over Asia economically and politically, the Empire of Japan seized the Allies' Asian territories and did a similar process to that in Africa. After expanding its own borders, Japan would establish the PPC with most interest placed on the Indian Subcontinent. Over the years after the European War, the Japanese masked their hunger for precious natural and occult resources on Indian soil and sought to offer "Asian oneness" with the Indians with treaties of trade and security, while the former would slowly build the leadership that would rule the region to the current year, 1995. The creation of the new Indian Union was at hand.
Myanmar (Burma) would break away from the former British Raj in 1949 to be its own nation, while Nepal and Bhutan joined in 1954 and Sri Lanka (Ceylon) would join in 1962. The Indian Union is governed by a small group of elite superhuman Brahmin and yogis under the direction of the Great Teacher, Shaunpurji. The pet-project of Japanese imperialism across Asia, the Indian Union plays a major bulwark regarding the balance of power with other competing world leaders. The Indian Union would use the leading edge of Japanese transportation and infrastructure technology to become of the greatest powers of Asia and train its own class of engineers and scientists to build their own cities and weapons of war, instead of relying exclusively on American, German or Japanese imports. Such efforts have created a fleet of modern-day vimana, or aircraft that are said to travel up to 15,000 miles per hour, and their functions controlled with technology that incorporates the captain's mind and body, such as adjusting speed or defense mechanisms. The Indian Union Army has also developed huge robots that mimic some of the Hindu gods as means of combat. The Shiva Model 1988 is quite imposing indeed, containing multiple arms that slash around their weapons like electric saws, and a third eye, when opened, emits an ultra-hot laser that can melt through tank armor.
Despite cultural similarities and current amicability with the Indians, the Japanese fear greatly should ever an uprising come against the current political and social order within the Indian Union. Despite the horrifying kaiju and yōkai that can be summoned on a moment's notice, towering mechs, and shadow-blending cyborg ninjas employed by the Kenpeitai (the Japanese equivalent to the KGB or CIA), the Indians have much spiritual seniority and near-equivalency technology-wise with the Japanese, as Indian civilization goes back to the last few thousand years. Indian mythology has all sorts of powerful gods and monsters of its own, which can prove more of match if rebellion or war against Japan were ever to happen. Keeping this in mind, Japan is more than fortunate to have the Indians on good terms under their umbrella.
