Description This is another result of a lot of spare time and a lot of artistic inspiration. I had a couple of other images I wanted to work with, but just couldn't seem to pull together this time, so this was done as an alternative. I had these wonderful ruins, and the zebra from stock exchange , as well as the figure of ~dizzz-stock , and thought they would make for a rather neat idea all together. I mean this to be a rather odd, dreamscape version of the story of the Star of Bethlehem. I swapped the wisemen for a wisewoman, and the garden variety horses for a zebra, but the Star remains, leading this beautiful queen on toward her destiny.... whatever it may be.

I've been getting a lot of questions about the zebra in this piece, so I am going to add a little bit of personal background on this to help people understand. This started out as piece called Tangerine Star, which was going to be a bit about childhood nostalgia... at least in terms of personal symbols. To anyone else, it would be a Bethlehem type story in the sense of "following the star" to where you're supposed to be. The star was supposed to be orange because I used to like to stand under the street lights when they turned on at dusk, and the lights under the glass of the lamp looked very much like stars to me. The other day I was lying in bed looking out at one of the street lamps outside my apartment and thinking that they really do still look like stars. Whether I followed the Tangerine Star, or it followed me, I couldn't say.

I can say though that I really didn't care for the orange star in this setting once it was in there, as it looked rather lurid and manacing somehow, so the color scheme of the general scene was changed to beiges and lavenders overall and the star became white. The color is gone, but the idea of the star remains the same. I gave the woman a purple dress in reference to a dream I had once about Purgatory in which I was told the color purple did not exist in that place. The purple is to remind this woman that although all around her is ruins, she's still alive... not yet in Purgatory. How could her dress be purple otherwise?

As for the zebra, I think he came to mind because of a carousel I used to like to ride as a child. There was one zebra on a whole carousel full of horses, and I used to always try my damnedest to get the zebra when it was time to get on the carousel and pick your horse for the ride. I got beaten to him by other kids who also wanted the zebra many times, but a few special times, I did get him for myself. I suppose because of that, I have always considered a zebra to be something of a superior ride to a horse, and I'm sure that at least subconsciously, that had a lot to do with why I picked him for my wisewoman to ride as she follows her star.

Thank you! This piece is one of my personal favorites, but it doesn't get as much love as some of my others. I'm so glad to see it has another fan!

I really like it. You see so many fair maidens on horses, but never zebras. I also like the very plain (for lack of a better word) look to her. I think she comes across as very human, not some creature born of elves and photoshop perfection. I think there's an ordinary but something of an ethereal quality to her very cool.

Really brought forth the development with a vision and the method in which our common behavioral awareness can see a journey that may hold such an extrodinary destiny. There is so much detail to aquire from each side glance. The genuine idea is unique and just has a pleasing effect. Well done my beautiful friend --you always bring forth matter of design that just makes me drink in the power of your knowledge and creative ingenuities.

Don't know why, but this reminds me of a dream or something. The empty city, the strange stars in the sky, riding on a zebra and all that. Very surreal!!

It was definitely meant to be very dream-like in nature. I added some to the description as I was getting so many questions about that zebra and some of the other stuff.

I am very drawn to this work of art. I love how you switched the roles of the man to the woman and from the camel to the zebra. The changes make the picture much more mesmerizing. I would follow her anyday.

Thank you! There are a lot of personal symbols here, the zebra being one, so I decided to add to my explanation. I think I confused a lot of people here.
