Description
Eugh this has been sitting half finished in my com for weeks now and I've finally gotten around to completing it! Another many charactered piece for . I quite liked having lots of cameos in Iolo's piece where he discovered the city of Ventry so figured I'd do the same for Tegan and later for Bryn! There's a grand total of 10 guest appearances, plus Tegan and some randoms in this one... I'd have put all the Sen'nahen characters in buuuuut... my patience simply couldn't hold that long, I almost gave up on this one! So yeah here it is, a bit lazy shading and detail wise but I figured the sheer number of things going on kind of makes up for it XD Enjoy!

EDIT: Didn't include my usual short story with this one (too tired) but I've added one in now^^

The city sprawled before them, a maze of smooth pale walls, brightly coloured awnings and people. Hundreds of people. Tegan’s ears were twitching around chaotically, her head darting to and fro to take in all the sounds, sights and smells of the bustling metropolis. Her man nudged her with his heels and she stepped forward through an archway into the throng that flooded the streets.

The heat was even worse with so many bodies pressing close to her, she’d slowly gotten used to the dry heat of the desert but here with so much movement the atmosphere was damped by many hot breaths and the musky sweat of animals, creatures and men. She shook her mane to loosen the layer of dust that had settled there and followed her man’s commands as he wove them through the city towards an area of even greater activity; an avenue filled with stalls and carts. The bazaar. The smells here were worse, there was the sickly sweet smell of a hundred types of fruit, the garish aroma of perfumes and underlying it all was the rancid smell of meat left to long in the heat. She swung about, looking for the source of the threatening smells, ignoring the commands of her rider who was tugging at that annoying bit of metal in her mouth. She swung in a tight circle, knocking passersby with her hind quarters and not caring.

“Easy girl, easy,” crooned the dark skinned man as he swung off her back and held her tightly by the reins. He stroked her face and muttered calming words to her. She had grudgingly begun to trust this man, he fed her, watered her and had spent all his free time working with her and grooming her. She quietened under his touch but still glanced around at all the strange sights pressing in around her.

“Ahh! Here’s our man!” her human exclaimed, waving his arm at a man standing a short distance away, hidden in a low turban and veil. He was garbed head to toe in deep folds of sand coloured material and didn’t show his face or speak a word of greeting. Tegan didn’t trust him but it seemed her man did.

“Here she is, Maquar, the fine horse for your master. I take it you received our message?” The man nodded slowly in reply, his eyes wandering lazily over Tegan’s body, she flicked her ears back and tossed her head high. The man raised a brow quizzically. “She’s a little high spirited but I believe she will suit his highness perfectly. You’ll find her well trained and well cared for a bargain at the price were asking.”

The man pointed to the faded blue marks on Tegan’s rump. “Ah, those, we didn’t have enough water to wash them out in the desert but they’re fading fast and I’m sure a good bath would clear them right off.” The man nodded again and produced a heavy bag of clinking coins from his sleeve, handing it to Tegan’s man who took it and placed her reins in the other man’s hands. She lifted her front hooves off the ground in a small, unhappy rear. She didn’t want to go to this man. He was nothing! She’d been promised a noble, a lord, a prince! That’s what the men who’d trained her had been talking about, they were only selling her to the highest bidder. Why was she being given to this man?!

He reached out to press his hand to her nose but she jerked backwards, pulling against her reins. The man’s hand disappeared before reappearing just as quickly with a shiny red apple. Tegan stared at him, her eyes darting between his eyes and the apple in his hand. She really did love apples. Slowly, she leaned forward and took a bite, he held onto it so she couldn’t pull it away, forcing her to take small bites from it and keep her head close in case he took it away. As she munched on the sweet, crisp fruit he gently stroked her forehead and smoothed her mane with careful hands. Ok... Perhaps she would go with this man after all!
