SO MUCH FUN TO DO. SO MUCH CRAMPING IN MY HAND.My friend Vince has been playing Okami for the past week or so, and I've been watching him go at it and fallen in love with the game while sitting on my bottom. I've coo'ed at the art for long enough- figured I'd do a little something... and then that 'little something' turned into a hand-numbing 5-hour thing. I nearly ruined it entirely when I laid too many brush strokes on the wrong layer and couldn't 'Undo' all of them- had to erase it manually. I nearly died. My favorite part, though, has got to be the fact that the entire foreground here has only eight colors, black and white included. I like vexeling.
Also- for those who draw animals often; can you tell that I don't?
ANYWAY~ I love Ammy, I really do. Had to show the White Wolf some of my adoration. And the art in the game is GORGEOUS. I know this isn't 100% accurate, but whatever. I wasn't shooting for complete correctness.

I love the simpleness of the design and color scheme. that being said, it would look better with the background not being so complicated and in a different style... but those are just my opinions...

Mmmm, I was wondering about the background myself- I've been trying to think of ways to simplify it- but everything that I put in there, I did for a reason, and I can't think of how to change it. Suggestions? But I do agree that it would be better if it was simpler, to match the rest of the picture.

You could just take a little of the background out and then redraw it in the sumi-esque style like Ammy.

The funny story between this game and I:
I got addicted to the game a few weeks before my birthday. I was absolutely in love with every aspect of it, including the gorgeous graphics and artwork. It blew me away.
Now, the odd thing about this story is that, for my birthday, I received a pet CAT. I do not know why this is so funny to me but, then again, it is almost midnight here and I am probably getting a little loopy.
Anyway, I named my cat Amaterasu and called her Ammy for short.
She .. ran away.. BUT that's okay.
I still have the game.
I think it is silly that I named a cat after a wolf/sun goddess.

Hmm...Well, I'm not very good at critique, I never know what to say! xD But...hmm...
*Squints and puts on her thinking cap*
If I had drawn her in this pose, I might have drawn the neck a bit longer, but I tend to give my wolves longer necks, I like the way it looks. x3 But, the way you have drawn it is accurate to the game's style, so it's not like it's incorrect or anything. And, I usually give my wolves larger heads, but I think her head was about that size in game art, so again, that would just be personal preference. Other than that, I can see nothing I would change! I really like the way you draw the paws, they are very intricate!
