Bearclaw sighed and sat on a bench, his head resting on his hands. Tonight was the night all the Clans gathered to have a ball to celebrate truce. Bearclaw was wearing a nice tux but he didn't want to go. Goldenbreeze had offered to go with her but he turned her down. He felt bad, but he didn't think she loved him as much as he loved her. Bearclaw felt awful for getting between her a Bane; on that note he felt awful for killing him. He loved her so much.
Bearclaw sighed. Patch and Fennelflight sat next to him. They were wearing tuxes too but weren't going at all. "What do you think you're doing Bearclaw?" Patch asked him, looking at his friend with his one good eye.
"Sulking," Bearclaw murmured.
"Why aren't you with the dance with Goldenbreeze?" Patch rasped.
"Cause I love her but she doesn't love me," he grumbled. Patch snorted and rolled his eye.
"You're denser than you appear if you think that. Anybody can tell she loves you," Patch told him. Bearclaw flicked his ear and grunted. "Well if you don't go she might find somebody else. A certain OwlClan cat," Patch said with a knowing glint in his amber eye. Bearclaw tensed and anger made his chest tighten. He knew exactly who Patch was talking about.
"It's not too late. The dance hasn't started yet," Fennelflight pointed out. Bearclaw suddenly stood up. He looked at his watch. The dance was starting in five minutes.
'Damn it! I won't make it unless I run,' he thought. He waved to Path and Fennel before sprinting down the street, glancing at his watch every little bit. He was starting to run out of breath. "Damn it! I wasn't built for running!" he hissed to himself. Soon the building where the ball was being held came into view. He sprinted up the step and kicked open the door just as the music started and the dance was about to begin.
Bearclaw looked around and spotted Goldenbreeze. Thornsnow walked up to her. He bowed and held out his hand to her. 'I don't think so!' Bearclaw thought, his ears pinned back against his skull. He pushed through everybody and raced over. He slammed his fist into the side of Thornsnow's face. There were loud gasps and Thornsnow fell backwards, shock on his face, his ears flat against his head and tail bushes out.
"Back the hell off my girl," Bearclaw growled. He fixed his cuffs and straightened his bow tie. He turned to Goldenbreeze who looked the most shocked. He grabbed on over her hands, placed his other hand on her hip, and pulled her away and started dancing when the music started.
"Bearclaw what in the world was that?" Goldenbreeze asked.
"I'm sorry Goldenbreeze I just couldn't stand to see him dance with you. I... I love you Goldenbreeze," he finally said. Goldenbreeze's soft green eyes lit up and she wrapped her arms around Bearclaw's waist.
"I love you too Bearclaw!" she exclaimed. A wide smile grew across Bearclaw's face and he hugged the short girl. Goldenbreeze stood up and her tippy toes and pressed her lips against Bearclaw's. He kissed her back, feeling happiness making his heart swell.

"I love you too Bearclaw!" she exclaimed. A wide smile grew across Bearclaw's face and he hugged the short girl. Goldenbreeze stood up and her tippy toes and pressed her lips against Bearclaw's. He kissed her back, feeling happiness making his heart swell.
