Out of curiosity do you do post processing with your sunset photos? The clarity on the sun is stunning but I can never manage to capture a picture this clear, I'm wondering if it's a post processing fix (and how for that matter) or I'm missing the trick to photographing it.Β

I do some, but 90% of the time, it's just changing the shadows and such, enhancing the differences a bit to help sharpen, so the colours come out as they really are. Β Though it's more lighten/darken.

Thank you! I'm in the process of going through sunrise/sunset photos right now and I'm sitting scratching my head how you get it to look this good lol. I figured it had something to do with tweaking shadows, blacks and highlights but wasn't making much progress lol. Out of curiosity what kind of filter are you using to shoot at the sun? I think part of my problem is I need a different filter, the one I have fully protects my camera but it winds up creating a funky glare effect. Great for solar events but it's not working as well for this type of photos.

I just usually use the camera itself, now a days cameras are good enough don't have to worry too much, the lighting and shadows can really help like with this shot it makes the waves easier to see and other small details.
