just how it came out when i did the longer shutter time

I use a canon so is 10/1 on a Nikon 1/10 on a Canon?

1/10 would be the fraction 1 tenth of a second where as the 10/1 means it was open for 10 seconds

oh and that is as far as i know universal over all cameras so your canon should be about the same though the range of the shutter speed might be different like the slowest my shutter can go with out using a remote of some sort is 30 seconds or 30/1 and the fastest it can go is 1/3000 second
