Please tell me this isn't real.  If it is, she's going to get staph or MRSA.

My hair is slicked down with gel and stuff, then covered in gelatine and then liquid latex with cotton and tissue in it, then painted.

Love your work, and you're inspiring me to get out my supplies and get back into doing some FX work for my photography portfolio.

Have you tried using hard soap for creating hair barriers? It works wonders for eyebrows, and sometimes for short and fine hair as well.

Yes... I've found that the Ivory brand works particularly well because it is very pure. You can experiment to find a brand that works well for you. A bar that is slightly "soft" and malleable to your fingers works well. Avoid overly brittle soaps, or soaps that contain a lot of color or herbals, added oils or other extra ingredients. You may even find that a brand with a tan/yellow color makes subsequent color blending easier. Experimentation isn't too expensive and if it doesn't work well you can always use it for cleanup on other projects.

Method:
Using a pocket knife or utility blade carve shavings from the bar of soap, preferably as thin as you can. If you're only covering eyebrows you probably won't need much, but what you don't use can be saved for later, so no worries if you do too much.

Use a light astringent on the area to be worked, especially in the case of eyebrows.

Take the shavings and gently press them over the eyebrows. If necessary lightly moisten your fingertips with water and smooth them over the soap, working in the direction of the eyebrow hairs (I also prefer working from the center, outward).

If the soap isn't soft enough to work with you can lightly steam it. One easy way to do this is to pour boiling water into a large coffee mug. Put the shavings into small strainer or other wire mesh over the mug to soften them.

As with all makeup and effects application, less is more. Use as little as possible to flatten and obscure the eyebrows while staying as close to the bony portion of the eye socket. Soap that goes too far up to the forehead, or too low (toward the upper eyelid) may eventually crack/crumble, ruining your effect.

If needed, you can use a hair dryer (on low!) to help "set" the soap once applied. An alternate preparation is to soften the soap shavings in warm water for a brief period until the soap becomes mushy like soft clay, and then apply as needed, and dry with a hairdryer.

You can also use this trick to shape the brows, such as only blocking the outer "downward" portion of the brows to create a Star Trek Vulcan effect. I learned this method from old stage makeup techniques and found that it works best either from a distance, or for short duration effects to be photographed.
