this is 1 of 4 such designs i did after thinking what would a more Rpg take on the mario francise.

here we have Mario and Luigi, 2 foster brothers raised in a mushroom kingdom orphanage. Mario is a Dwarf and Luigi is a half elf, both are veterans of the last great war and has returned to civilian life as sewer construction workers. They were outside the city walls working in the rural areas when Bowser and his army snuck into the mushroom kingdom and conquered it, they have had no contact with the city since

the race for the brothers were simple to figure out and i knew i wanted to add some elements from their classic outfits into their redesign.
i based Mario's armor on a Tex Ren Faire costume i did a few years ago, the helmet i want to combine his classic hat but with dwarven elements. for Luigi i knew i didnt want him to be the 'tank' but more a sword and shield fighter (the shield is not shown but yes he has one) i didnt want him to have a helmet similar to Mario as it didnt go well with his overall design. i chose the headband and pompadour style hair because i felt it would make him stand out from mario. the colors are muted as i didnt want them to be too bright as it didnt fit the world i was trying to build.
