Description The Steel American was one of the first U.S. military men to engage in offensive ground combat operations in the European and Mediterranean theatre during World War II. Assigned to the 2nd Armored Division ("Hell on Wheels"), an armored division of the United States Army. This division played an important role during World War II in the invasions of North Africa and Sicily and the liberation of France
They were part of the Western Task Force of Operation Torch, landing at Casablanca on 8 November 1942, but the whole division first went into action in the Operation Husky landing at Gela in Sicily, 10 July 1943, and fighting through to Palermo.

The 2nd Armored was organized as a "heavy" armored division having two armored regiments of four medium tank and two light tank battalions of three companies each. The U.S. "light" armored divisions having three tank battalions, each consisting of three medium tank companies and one light tank company, both types had an infantry component of three mechanized battalions, although the heavy divisions maintained an "armored infantry regiment" organization.
Operation Torch (initially called Operation Gymnast) was the British-American invasion of French North Africa in WorldWar2 during the North African Campaign starting on November 8 1942.

So I got the Steel American wearing a tank battalion helmet, he’s also sporting the “hell on wheels” of the 2nd on his sleeve.
The Steel American in commanding a specially commissioned and designed M4A3E2 Sherman Jumbo. Sporting a 76mm gun and a .50 cal m2 Browning machine gun holding 300 rounds and 2 Browning M1919A4 , and for his personal touch the Steel American painted a big white letter “A” on its front to taunt the Nazi’s. The Sherman also like the M4 sherman had an escape hatch on the hull bottom to help the crew survive and, in the Pacific the Steel American used this feature like the Marines had to recover wounded infantry under fire.
Now the crew was made up of five the Commander, gunner, loader, driver and co-driver, but the Steel American had to leave his loader behind when he found out his younger sister had somehow sunk aboard a military transport and followed him to Normandy. After seeing his older brother in costume in a newsreel back in the states she quickly sewed one out of scrapes and demanded to fight beside him. Having no choice but to take her with him, instead of leaving her in the care of battle hardened soldiers who had not seen a young woman in months. Taken the name “Shelly” (she’s the loaded, get it tank shells.) she fought beside him for most of the Normandy invasion, getting herself captured on film for battlefield report to be sent state side, cause her to be discovered in her brothers care. However since she was not enlisted the army decided to send her back home to help support the war movement. This was at great relief to the Steel American who did not want his lil sister to be with him and his men for the Rhine campaign, also he did not like the way his crew was beginning to look at her.

Fighting tooth and nail against the Steel American was the 5th Panzer Army, also known as Panzer Group West or Panzer Group Eberbach Commanded by Oeinriche Strauss after Commander Gerd von Rundstedt made one of the biggest blunders in the war believing the panzer group should be held in reserve some distance from the front, to counterattack Allied penetrations if they attempted to invade Normandy. Convinced that Allied airpower and artillery wouldn’t allow the freedom to move large tank formations, and so insisted that the panzers should be deployed much closer to the frontline. In the event, Hitler refused to allow his commanders to commit the panzer group without his explicit authorization, and so when the Allied Invasion began on 6 June 1944, Panzer Group West remained immobile.
So with Oeinriche Strauss in charge of the whole Panzer group the Steel American went head to head against the SS operative Iron Claw, known for his ruthlessness and precise military skills.
