Description
One thing about Pokémon is that transitions are never what they could be. White lights for evolution, which is really metamorphasis because the only way it could be evolution is if every time your Pokémon lay eggs the Pokémon that hatch from them look slightly like the Pokémon it should evolve into through each resulting generation of babies. Back to the light thing, the Pokémon just glows and changes shape - that's not as interesting as seeing new parts grow or stretch etc. Transform worked the same in the animé but in the games it just made Ditto/Mew/Smeargle go all pixelated before becoming the new Pokémon.

So I've drawn what happens when Ditto fails to transform. Bits of the other Pokémon are still there, only mushier.
