Description Albert Docks, Liverpool, UK. Again another shot I have revisited as I wasn't totally happy with it. Far more time has been taken this time and also newer processing techniques and filters have been used. Taken with a compact camera and HDR tonemapped.

That's really a fantastic work! I really like the divergent perspective. Everything is well balanced, with a light but well perceptible HDR effect. The image has got a great Tonal range, but it's not "false" as many HDR (mine too...).
What preset did you use? Did you modified it?

Ive been away practising my art for a while and playing with some other post processing techniques. This is using Nic Software's HDR efex pro. Ive used the Grannies Attic preset as a base then adjusted to my liking. After that I have removed any noise, Adjusted the colour some more, Removed any blur/distortion then cropped.

The only thing i dont like about it is that Bloody Porta cabin on the right hand side. But it's part of the original shot and that is something i dont play with.

Of Course you use a tripod, it isn't? I don't have one and for me it's nearly impossible find a HDR plugin that align images for a crisp HDR effect when you shot freehand, even if the misalignment is really little

I never use a tripod and all my pictures ate taken on a Samsung 12MP compact. It has exposure bracketing but thats about it.

If you use Photoshop CS 4/5 go to File-Automate-Create HDR. It is the best at aligning images that i have found (well its better than photomatrix and nic software) and before it outputs the image you can remove ghosting (set 1 of the images as the default layer to get rid of movement of people etc) Make sure you move the slider to the right of the histogram so you are not cliping the image (to most extreme right hand edge of the histogram)

I have learnt loads from the people on Deviant art, it is a fantastic community. If you want any more advise just ask

Yes, I tried and I agree with you, the align of Photoshop is near to perfection, but I don't know if I can Photoshop align images and Nic process them.
I tried to import DNG file, layer them, auto align them, separate layers and save them again, but in this way I lose the bracketing data, and HDR softwares don't know what images is underexposed or overexposed anymore...

Thank for your answers!

Right, All my pictures are Jpeg before i process them. if i could take in raw i would.
My workflow is: File, Automate, merge to HDR pro, Selct histogram point and ghosting (most under exposed is usually best) (HDR is created) file Nic soft- HDR efex pro, .........Bla bla bla. Try that

Thanks, It was a totally by chance picture. I had gone to Liverpool to take some shots of the Queen Victoria cruse liner that was docked at the Cunard port. As I walked back to the car the sun was setting and the water was still and I just couldn't resist. Its actually 9 shots stitched together and tonemapped
