Description This is the second part of my trade with ParadoxSketchbook through ACEO-change , who requested an owl.  I chose a barn owl because I think their colors are beautiful and they have a very mysterious look about them. As I'm very inexperienced with birds, this was unfamiliar territory for me but I kind of like how it turned out. This was actually the second time I attempted this, I felt the first attempt was not good enough so I tried again. (here is the first atttempt:sta.sh/0gnlkd7cfje )

ACEO smooth bristol
Prismacolor pencils
Promarkers

I am having lots of fun with ACEOs right now!

for such a wonderful and detailed card! I actually think you did great on the first attemot as well as this one... but we artists never like our own work (just a curse that comes with the passion).
I seriously think you are improving with each card that you make. Might I suggest something nifty that goes on over at Instagram? You do not need to have an account to participate but it is still cool to be a part of as you get to be a member of a small community of ATC makers:
#ATCitupwithfriends hosted by Pabkins
That is a link for the April theme which is Steampunk. She also does this random event where we all make ATCs based on prompts then trade if we like. Also there are challenges and such small projects that happen too on Instagram focused on ATCs. I'm doing one on Tarot Cards and another one on calligraphy (both in art journals and not ATC).

Thank you very much for the kind comment! I sure do hope to improve with each card I make, I feel like I understand something a little better each time, at least. That instagram event sounds interesting, i will check it out! I'm always up for more interaction with cards, which I've just fallen in love with.  Thank you for the suggestion!

I know how you feel. With each art I make I feel like I learn something new because I make a new mistake every time.
I do hope you try out the swap group. there is an official site for art trades too: ATCsForAll.com
You can check that out to see if it is to your liking. I started trading on there but have speed doing swaps. I only do personal trades on there right now.
I am putting together a list of active artists who would like to trade on dA right now. I want to try and do a swap on here to see how it goes through my group dA4U .
I am then planning on keeping the artists listed on profile plus the group profile for anyone who would like to do personal trades. Let me know if you're interested.

I took a look at the website and it does look interesting! I may try one of their upcoming trades! The butterfly one looked good, it would give me a chance to use the color pencils I rarely get to use. I'd be interested in doing more trades through your group as well!

Oh awesome! I also post available cards on there.
I'm participating in a few swaps there...I think one is the sea turtle paper doll swap.
My group dA4U is only made to feature deviants. We have a separate sectiom for those that are available for personal trades but the group does not host swaps.
I have started hosting swaps now. The first one is owls... I'll do then every 3 or 4 months.

I love barn owls too!!!
This is looking really good though! I love the rich colors, and how you did the markings/blending on the wings!

Thank you! I was intimidated by the markings at first, but then ended up having fun with them!

Even with being intimidated by them, you still did a great job with them! Love the smoothness of the coloring, and how nicely every color and marking flows together. ^^ Hope you do more owls in the future. ^^

Oooo, maybe next time we do a I'll have to have you draw my fox owl character!
Speaking of trades, I promise I'm working on my half, felines take me a lot of time and I really want to make it look perfect for you! ^^ <3
